Planting Seeds – a Visioning Meditation

Are you in need of raising your vibration to plant the seeds and cultivate the fruit that’s in your Highest Good?  In this Planting Seeds visioning meditation, you’ll have the chance to ask 5 questions or set 5 intentions and receive intuitive guidance on each.

Powerful! Can I say that about something I’ve channeled? Why not!?

I listened to this short visioning meditation for the first time 2.5 months after channeling it live for a group at my Pause for Peace event in Deer Lake, Newfoundland & Labrador.

What I experienced was exactly what I needed. I feel so much lighter, stronger, clearer.

May it be so for you too.

Planting Seeds – a visioning meditation

I only had half an hour left at the end of the event, so I asked my Team of Divine Helpers for a short & sweet meditation.

I have to admit that I felt a little time conscious, so I didn’t give you as much ‘receiving’ time as I usually like.

So here’s what you can do to prepare ahead of time.

Think of a list of 5 things you’d like to connect to your intuition for. They can be

  • 5 questions
  • 5 intentions
  • 5 affirmations

If you write them down, it’ll be easier. Keep them short & sweet.

Then put on your headphones (I find it easier to meditate and the sound is better with headphones, but it’s not essential) and enjoy your visioning experience.

It’s 19 minutes long, but save time for journaling after. It’s great to keep exploring on paper while you’re still in the vibe.

Video: Guided Tour of the Connection Art Exhibition

My Connection Art Exhibition at Ocean View Gallery in Carbonear, Newfoundland comes to a close today. But you still get to be a part of it here in my little piece of the online world. Welcome!

As you watch & listen to this 12-minute guided tour of my energy-infused intuitive paintings, feel which ones call to you most. I’d love to hear in the comments below.

Remember that you can order the originals online as well as prints (fine art paper & canvas) of many of my paintings.

Click on the video below to play.

I want to publicly thank Tammy Wrice for this amazing experience. What an open-hearted generous soul! She connected to my vision and helped me bring it to life in her community.

In addition to being the gallery owner, she was my art delivery person, b & b hostess, video technician, caterer, business sounding board, and friend.

Connection Art Exhibition Opening Weekend

Our Connection Art Exhibition opening weekend was such a blessing!

Art can be experienced on various levels – visually, energetically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, etc.

What a treat to be a part of all that with the locals and tourists who visited while I was there.

Some immediately teared up as they entered the room.

Some stayed for 1.5 hours, slowly making their way around the room and sharing how they shifted while journeying through the artwork.

Some interacted with the labyrinth paintings, alone or side by side with friends.

Some traveled from St. John’s for their first art exhibition ever, introducing their kids to something new.

Friends gathered and strangers connected.

Some didn’t seem initially moved by the art, but later came back with others in tow.

And one tourist walked in and quickly said “oh no, this isn’t for me” and did a quick 180. I smiled, happy she recognized her truth and honoured it.

And you?

People always tell me that seeing my work online is nothing like experiencing it live.

How was your experience?  I’d love to hear below.

#1 – Choices

"Choices" from the Connection Collection

There are so many ways you can spend your days.

There are so many people and groups you can choose to spend them with.

There are so many places where you could choose to hang out.

There are so many dietary and lifestyle choices to make on a daily basis.

Your journey is your own. It’s a journey of choices.

Your choices have put you here and now. Is this where you want to be?

Can you truly be yourself in your current environment and with your circle of friends?

Unconditional love comes from being seen and then accepted for who you truly are. For that to happen, you’re being invited to put more of your Self into all you do, all you are, and all of the choices you make.

This is an invitation to authentic living.

Not everyone will like the changes or like you. Don’t take it personally.

Find your Self and then find your tribe. There is a way to live in alignment with your soul – to make the choices that raise your vibration and connect you to the love and happiness that you deserve.

Think of one way you can shift your choices to be truer to your Self. Then take inspired action – one baby step at a time until you’re moved to take a leap of faith.

#2 – Crystal Bowl

"Crystal Bowl" from the Connection Collection

Music can help you reconnect to your essence and open you up to divine experiences.

It heightens your awareness and raises your vibration.

Music provides a body-mind-spirit connection that changes your brain waves – it’s powerful stuff!

It can bring you deeper into meditation or get you up and dancing. There are so many benefits.

Of course your choice of music can help. This week, take time to bring more uplifting music into your life.

Doreen Virtue, world angel expert, explained in a recent interview how high vibrational music actually leaves particles on you that act like a shield against external stressors. It also helps relieve internal tension. That’s a visual I’m now using as I dance to 3 kirtan songs on my mini-trampoline every morning!

Try something new. Explore chakra-balancing crystal bowl music, indigenous drumming, classical symphonies, kirtan (Sanskrit chants), angel sound therapy, Gospel, some band you recently heard about but never followed up on, etc.

Ask your friends for recommendations or use Google and YouTube. You’ll know what’s right for you when you hear it.  Enjoy!

#3 – Crystal Mudra

"Crystal Mudra" from the Connection Collection

You’re being invited to contemplate the big picture of your life.

What lessons have you learned from your journey?

How can these lessons help you and those around you right now?

Then meditate on your life today. Where is the energy flowing and where is it stagnant?

This is also an invitation to explore crystals and gemstones as a tool for healing, cleansing, meditation, rituals, and decoration with a purpose.

Take time this week to find a shop where they sell rocks and crystals – or go into nature.

Feel your way around until you find something that attracts you. Hold it. Close your eyes and feel it.

Trust your intuition and bring something home that you feel will support you in your intentions. It doesn’t have to be an expensive piece of jewelry. It can be a loose stone from the beach.

Start by cleansing it from the energies it’s absorbed from others and do this regularly. Click here for suggestions.

Then hold your chosen crystal as you envision energy flowing and movement growing in various areas of your life.  Carry it around or wear it to energize and protect you. Or sleep with it under your pillow. Again, follow your intuition as to how it can enhance your life.

Note: There are books and websites that describe energetic properties of various stones and crystals. But I’ve heard for years now that these are changing with the polar shifts happening on the planet. So trust your Self in your choices: let your feelings guide you.

#4 – Dolphin Sky

"Dolphin Sky" from the Connection Collection

Before falling asleep, ask your angel dream guide (who has been with you since birth) for whatever kind of help you need.

As your body falls asleep, so does your ego.

It’s easier to access guidance at that time.

You’re co-creating your dreams with your angel dream guide to heal, problem-solve, have a dress rehearsal, etc. Ask for what you need and enjoy the journey.

Have you ever tried dream analysis? Dream journaling helps you to remember the messages you’ve received during your dreams. It’s a practice that takes determination but is very worthwhile. But even if you don’t, you may receive a memory flash during the day when you need it.

I’ve made major decisions based on messages in my dreams. Had it not been for my dream journal, I would have misremembered the guidance.

Take a course or read a book to learn more first. Dreams at different stages of your sleep have different roles – from processing of the day’s events to divinatory dreams. It’s good to learn more if you’re feeling moved to go this route.

You’ll gain access to your intuition and further explore the wonderful world of symbology – universal and personal.

Whether it’s in your sleep, through creative visualization, day dreams, or some other technique, you’re being invited to dive deep into your intuition and the power of symbolism.

#1 – Being

"Being" from the Connection Collection

Swimming with wild dolphins in Hawaii was profoundly connecting.

I got to witness their healing powers as they rallied to help the planet after the earthquake in Japan created a tsunami that swept through our retreat house (we’d been evacuated). Their geometric swimming patterns were unlike what local experts had ever seen.

If you’ve chosen this photo, it’s because you need to find peace to help you cope with the busy-ness or chaos around you. Nature is your answer.

Don’t focus on the overwhelm. Focus on peacemaking – in your own heart first and then in the world around you.

Are you a water person? Find a lake, ocean, or swimming pool.

Are you a mountain person? Go hiking or watch a nature show on the great peaks.

Are you a tree hugger? Go sit in a forest and ask Mother Earth to help ground you.

Do colourful blooms uplift you? Find a garden where you can stop and smell the flowers.

Are you an animal lover? Get yourself some pet therapy. If you don’t have your own, go to a friend’s or to a shelter to cuddle the kitties.

Do whatever you need to connect to nature in ways that are aligned with your soul. Your recipe for wellness is there this week.

#2 – Teaching

"Teaching" from the Connection Collection

Mudras are body and hand positions that have an influence on the energies flowing through your body, mind, and spirit. They’re often used during meditation.

This photo features the Teaching hand mudra on a Buddha statue.

Is there something you’re learning that you’d like to spend more time on this week?

Are you feeling called to teach others? How? When? Where? Why?

What physical or spiritual practice has taught you to connect to your True Self and live in right livelihood? Can you add more of that to your life this week?

Perhaps you simply need to slow down and listen to your heart.

Meditation is a great tool for that and has so many benefits. The trick is finding the style that’s right for you – there are so many (learn more).

If you’ve chosen this photo, you’re being called to focus on what influences the energy flow in your life and in your being.

If nothing comes immediately to mind, brainstorm a few ideas and feel which of these creates a greater sense of expansion in your body as you contemplate it.

#3 – Rockface 2

"Rockface 2" from the Connection Collection

You love ease and grace.

But you also love giving yourself entirely to a project and working hard at it.

You thrive through challenge.

You’d rather chip away at a block of stone than mold a lump of clay.

Is there’s a project you started a long time ago that’s waiting for you to get back at it?

What is it?

To give yourself fully to it, you had to accumulate more layers of life and experience. Now you’re ready.

Connect to your True Self by working full-on at what you love.

This is likely not about building something new, but working with or changing something that already exists.

Does this resonate?

If this project doesn’t immediately come to mind, ask your team of Divine Helpers to reveal it to you.

Then pay attention to your thoughts and to the signs in your environment today.

#4 – Spirit Call

"Spirit Call" from the Connection Collection

This gorgeous lens flare was created in Gros Morne National Park as I pointed my camera directly into the sun over Western Brook Pond.

This sent scattered rays and orbs of light onto my sensors and into my soul.

Truly, if you raise your face to the sunshine, you will not see the shadows.

Where is your focus these days?

Are you making uplifting choices in terms of what you’re listening to, looking at, eating, etc.

Fill yourself with Light.

Choose entertainment, learning material, company, and activities that help you connect to your True Self and Source.

How can you best receive The Universe’s Light into your own life?

What helps you project your own Light into the world?

You are a lightworker. By your very being and choices you make a difference.

Feed your Self, your soul, your body, and your days with Light and then have fun sharing it in your very own unique way – in both your being and doing.

Join me on a Voyage of Connection – A Guided Visualization

Are you feeling disconnected?

Join me on this voyage of connection.

It’s another guided visualization meditation I channeled live during a group session.

This time, you’ll be transported in a bubble of light into magical worlds.

You’ll connect to Guides and receive messages and tools for your journey to your Highest Good.

It’s a lot faster than some of my other co-created meditations. There’s more movement and less pauses for you to explore the space on your own. It asks you to immediately trust what comes up for you and just play along.  May it be whatever you need it to be.

Your discovery journey will be different every time you listen.

Guided visualizations are more than just a focused time to tap into Guidance.

Depending on the theme, a guided visualization can help you activate the natural healing properties of the Life Force dancing within you.

This is one of those.

So find a comfortable spot, close your eyes, and enjoy the journey. Do not use while driving.

(best enjoyed with headphones)

I Was Bullied, But It Didn’t Stop Me

painting of tree spirit and Guides

“Lighting the Way” -prints available

I’ve often talked about the role of art in my life. But I haven’t really shared my story as a visionary – one who stayed Connected despite all odds.  So here goes.

I believe we all come into this world with a strong memory of and connection to God / Source (whatever term you’re comfortable with). We also come in with our own support team.

Then starts the process of dis-connection – either because it’s driven out of us by society, or we become so caught up in this world that we forget.

I was lucky. First, I was an introvert. I spent a lot of time playing on my own (or what appeared to be on my own) and my parents respected that. It also reduced the effects of peer pressure.

My mother said I’d wake up singing in my crib and keep it up until she came to get me. I figure I must have known I was never alone. When I was old enough, I spent hours on the backyard swing, singing and communicating with my guardian angels.

Second, my dad was in the Air Force, so we moved 4 times in 5 years by the time I was 10. This meant that I never got overly dependent on one group of peers. I wasn’t molded into my “place in the pack”.

Still, I wasn’t a big fan of people. I vividly remember the day I learned that I had to shut up about my visions and “invisible friends” unless I wanted to be laughed at. I became super aware of the rampant conditional love in our society. I was what you’d call a hyper-sensitive child. It often hurt to be around people. So I preferred the company of my team of Divine Helpers. I also read about Jesus and the lives of Saints… as well as the Smurfs and other European goodies.

Thankfully, we lived in areas where it was safe to let your kids out to play all day without supervision. I’d spend a lot of time in nature alone or with a neighbour’s dog, communicating with God, the elementals, totem animals, forest creatures, and my team Guides and angels.

I wish I could remember more specifics, but I can’t. I just know my family had to send out search parties to find me at dinner time.

My relationship with my team of Divine Helpers got tested though when I was 11. We’d moved back to Ottawa where I re-joined my kindergarten group.

I was bullied for my naivety (I was much more sheltered growing up in Germany than my Canadian peers), for doing my homework, and for the attention I was getting from boys and teachers.

I had to choose – peer pressure or stay true to my Self and my Guidance.

I tell ya! I was terrified. I didn’t want to go back to school the day after I was followed by the whole class and beaten up by the “top girl”. It actually took me years to get over it and forgive.

But I’m glad I remained true to my values and endured the “goody goody two shoes” sing songs for a couple more years until I could go to a different high school than the rest of my class.

The lesson to remain true to my Higher Self served me well. I now knew that those who liked me truly like me, not some pretend-me I’d show up as to please them.  I was seen, appreciated, and loved… mostly.

But the greatest gift of all was that I remained connected to my Guides – mostly while walking or being alone in nature.

When I finally found a painting medium that helped me express my Self (liquid acrylics), I realized that the studio was just as good a channeling space than being in nature.

The more challenging life became, the more I painted. I relied on my friendships with all forms of Spirit to channel the love, healing, teachings I needed to cope with “the real world”.

When healers started taking notice of my work, I knew I’d found my tribe. There were others who’d kept the channel open and were using their connection to serve others.

I couldn’t have put a name to my visionary skills before I started energy healing workshops of various kinds in the 90s. The healing modalities I learned didn’t include visions, but they naturally flowed and I felt safe to share them with my practice buddies. To me, they were entertaining. To others, they held symbolism-filled messages that enhanced the energy work.

It took over 20 years to add my visionary services to my public offerings. Before that, I focused on my energy-based intuitive paintings and inspirational photography.

Now it’s all coming together – the energy-based art and intuitive / visionary services.

I may have kept silent about it for years … bullying can do that.  But I didn’t lose my Connection, which helped me along my Path.  Now I’m here to help you on yours. And for that, I’m grateful!

If I can help mirror to you  your Light and the amazingly beautiful flow of unconditional love supporting you on your path, then it’s my honour and my pleasure. Be it through my art, intuitive readings, or guided meditations, you too can re-connect to your Source and team of Divine Spirits. You too can learn to live intuitively through your very own Connection.

May it be so. Aho. Amen 🙂

P.S.  It took guts to speak up about this a year or so ago, but I’m so glad I did. It’s time to get rid of our camouflage. What’s yours?

P.P.S. I have 3 services which put my visionary skills to work for you.

Are you a Water or Mountain Person?

photo of wake

“Flow” from the Connection Collection

Are you a water or mountain person?

If you had your choice, where would you spend your holidays? Where would you live?

For many, the answer is clear, one way or the other.

Either way, your preference can tell you a lot about yourself.  Once you’re aware of this, it can help with your decisions about where to live, holidays, careers, etc.

If you’re a mountain person, for instance, what aspects of the mountains do you prefer?

  • the forests?
  • being on the very peak overlooking the world?
  • the challenge of climbing the rockface?
  • the relaxing gondola ride to the top?
  • being so far from civilization?
  • the fun of family skiing holidays?
  • making your way to the top?
  • looking down to see how far you’ve come?

Why?

If you’re a water person, have you thought about what you like best and why?

  • the crashing waves on the cliffs, shaping grooves into the rock?
  • the peaceful trickle of a stream?
  • walking in the rain?
  • the meditative quality of lily pads growing in a pond?
  • the romantic canoe paddles on the lake?
  • the wilderness camping adventures and week-long portages?
  • the gentle rocking of a boat?
  • the excitement of surfing the big waves?
  • reflections ?

What does this tell you about your Self?

sunset photograph

“Mystery” from the Connection Collection

Being true to ourselves in all our choices comes a lot easier when we’re aware of what moves us.

What is it about mountains or water that helps you connect to your essence? They’ve both got different energies. What you like best can tell you what energies are most nourishing to you.

I’ve traveled to many places in the world.  I’ve lived on 3 continents and across Canada – in the prairies and on islands on both coasts.  No matter where I end up living, I always make sure to spend time by water.

When I was little, I used to go to the next village to feed the ducks.  When I was a teenager, I used to bike to waterfalls in the city and sit there for hours, or bike along the river.  Now, I’m so grateful to have a small river in the backyard that leads right to the ocean half an hour’s walk away.

I need water, all kinds of water, depending on my mood.  It’s also about the only thing I drink.

Even a photograph of water can help soothe my soul. I breathe deeper if I gaze upon a reflected sunset or the wake of a tall ship, like in the photo at the top.

Adding Love, Light and Colour to Local Nursing Home

Shine-On-Dominique-Hurley
As an artist, I receive several requests to donate work to charity auctions and events every year. It simply wouldn’t be feasible for me to say yes to all of them. So, like with many things, I go with my gut feeling and assess whether the project is aligned with my own mission.

When I heard about the Masonic Park Art Project back in February, I lit up. What a great idea! This project vibrated with the love of beauty and the beauty of love.

Lorna Yard, the organizer, put out a call for 40 artists to help bring joy and colour to the rooms of residents at the Masonic Park Nursing Home. Her own father, Cyril, is a resident at the nursing home. When he moved in, Lorna lovingly decorated his room, but many of the other residents didn’t have anyone to do the same for them.

In her words:

“These are the people who built a world for us, who raised our parents, who tended our communities, and who we owe everything to. I felt they deserve something beautiful to remind them of how beautiful they are.”

She had no trouble signing up 40 crafts people, painters, photographers, etc.

A couple of weeks ago, we each received a short biography of the resident we were paired with.

This was mine:

Female in her 90s. She is originally from Pound Cove. She was a home maker and a volunteer in her church for 40 years. Her faith and spirituality have always been extremely important to her and has remained so. Her favourite hymn is ‘The Old Rugged Cross’.

I really enjoyed creating this piece especially for her. It was made with many layers of acrylic paints, love, and prayers.

The painting was inspired by the idea of a stained glass window and the radiant love of God / The Universe that shines on all of us. That’s why I named it “Shine On” (9″ x 12″).

I’m really looking forward to our June 13th mini-exhibition of the artwork and kitchen party at the nursing home. That’s when I’ll get to meet my recipient and the other participants in this heart-warming project.

What a beautiful way to create connection in the community and transform a space. I’m honoured to be a part of this effort to add love, light and colour to this nursing home. Thanks Lorna! May your initiative inspire many others.

There are so many ways to be of service by matching our love and passions with the needs of the community. How do your favourite businesses give back? Are you involved in a volunteer project that warms your heart? Please share in the discussion below, knowing our stories will inspire others.

Trees, Trees, Transformational Trees

Transformational trees - Witnesses-Dominique Hurley

Are you a tree hugger?  Have you ever tried it?  Trust me, it’s transformational.

The next time you’re feeling frenzied, worried, or stressed, hug a tree.  They have the amazing ability to suck that right out of you.  Just visualize your troubles being shot right down, deep into the ground, where that negativity gets transformed into something useful.

Trees also appreciate it when we give them our love and attention. Next time you walk among these standing people, tune in to see if any are calling for your healing hands, gratitude, or simple greeting.

Like with any relationship, a little mutual caring, or give and take, works best.

Glorious In Every Season

Trees are so beautiful in all seasons.  I’m equally drawn to their spendour when they’re bare of leaves as when they’re in full bloom or radiantly green.

Transformational trees - Generosity-Dominique Hurley

They’re always true to their nature, never aspiring to be anything else than present in the moment. What great teachers.

Believe it or not, it snowed here last week in St. John’s.  Yes, it’s May, but weather does what weather does. I don’t mind. It simply is.

We also had a couple of sunny days, when I went walking without my jacket, hat, and gloves. I’ll admit, that was great!

I’ve started taking my neighbour’s dogs out for walks – a true win-win. They motivate me to leave my computer and connect to nature on the nearby trails.

I have yet to see a bud on a tree, but it’s exciting to know that the treedom is waking up. After a long and necessary dormant phase, they’ll soon be singing again.

Inspiring My Heart & My Art

As you know, I often paint trees.

"On the Forest Floor" - 12" x 36" - Acrylics, tar gel, gold and pearl mica, stone, on gallery-wrapped canvas (no framing necessary)

“On the Forest Floor” – 12″ x 36″ – Acrylics, tar gel, gold and pearl mica, stone, on gallery-wrapped canvas (no framing necessary) – $845

Well, I spent a whole day this weekend choosing and editing photographs for my Treedom Photography Collection that I’ll soon be adding to my online shop.  They’ll be available as prints on canvas, fine art paper, and metallic paper. Can you imagine some of these as large canvases in your home or office?

I may not have been walking through the forest this weekend, but I sure felt the transformational power of trees through these photographs.

I look forward to helping bring that energy within the concrete walls of cities everywhere.

Transformational Trees - Present-Dominique Hurley

Daily Inspiration on Facebook

Not surprisingly, many have been inspired by trees.

I also created a series of inspirational image slides this weekend with quotes from other tree-huggers (I’m assuming). I’ll be sharing one a day on Facebook in June.

With Facebook’s new algorithm, however, it’s important to Like, Share, and Comment for these to regularly show up in your News Feed. Out of my nearly 700 fans, only about 30 get my posts.
