Pondering Peace – a Visual Contemplation at Middle Three Island Pond

There’s nothing quite like life to remind us how important it is to reconnect to our inner peace.

There’s no greater gift than inner peace – for ourselves and others.

Awareness is the first key. How easily do you notice you’re off kilter?

Being able to shift back to your True Self state of inner peace is the next step.

Sometimes, awareness is the magic ingredient that triggers an instant shift into a more peaceful way of being.

From awareness comes acceptance. From acceptance comes a letting go of resistance to what is. Then comes a realignment with the truth. Being. Doing. Inner Peace.

Other times, however, that shift can take a whole lot longer and the slowness of the shift does nothing to improve your inner chaos. It just adds a layer of frustration at how human you’re being!

I arrived at this Airbnb photo job for my friend Gordon Martin of People Places & Things hours behind schedule and hungry.

I’d done well so far that morning choosing love over fear, but with a couple of hours of photography ahead before I could mess up the kitchen, my inner grumblings (physical, mental & emotional) took over. I was now hangry!

In that state, it was really hard to see the beauty around me, much less photograph it.

I was aware of my state. I even laughed at myself. I confessed to Gordon & my traveling companion Joanne that I was having an unusually hard time shifting back to peace. My emergency protein bar didn’t seem to make a difference.

My wise Observer Self fully realized what was happening. But my little human self was having an inner tantrum. Can you relate?

Finally, after I’d photographed the indoors, eaten a nice warm bowl of curry veggie stew, and headed outdoors doused in bug spray – I could much more easily focus on the beauty.

And what beauty!

As I was brought back to bliss by Mother Nature’s invitation to honour her beauty with my camera, my friend Joanne Best came back in time for a canoe ride on the very still pond.

The week before, we’d arranged to meet so she could pick up 8 paintings to bring back to Earth & Sky Gallery & Healing Centre in Twillingate for the tourist season. Perfect timing! I invited her to join me for the first of my 3 nights at this cabin on Middle Three Island Pond in Torbay, NL.

As you’ll see in the video, her birthday despacho fire ceremony was a highlight of my stay. She’d co-created this prayer bundle & offering the night before with shamanic practitioner, Regina Wright.

For the next 2.5 days & nights, I thoroughly enjoyed my inner and outer state of peace – witness to the ever-changing weather on the pond.

The fog and rain were as beautiful as the sunshine. The pure stillness was as much a blessing as the 60 km/hr ripples on the water.

Mother Nature was reminding me that if I could find beauty in all her states, I needed to do the same for myself.  I too, in both my human and spirit states am beautiful.

My experience of the first few hours didn’t have to taint my whole experience. It simply was.

I acknowledged and expressed it. Then I shifted – eventually…

This is the human experience – all of it.

And as the soul quenching call of the loons brought me back to the moment with gratitude, I knew that the next time my inner grumblings got loud enough to notice, it would be easier to come back to the here and now and appreciate the process of transformation – this breath at a time.

Nature photography is part of my self-care regimen – a wonder-full transformational tool. What’s yours?

May it become easier and easier for you to realign with the loving beautiful being that you are. And may this 17-minute video “Pond(ering) Peace” add a layer of love & beauty to your day. Enjoy! If the video quality is poor, use the little gear wheel bottom right to change it to High Definition (1080 HD).

P.S. If you’d like to contribute to my creating & sharing of these artistic videos, I gladly accept your donations by e-transfer (Canadians) or Paypal at [email protected]. Any amount is welcome in exchange for a credit (or dedication to a loved one) in my next feature presentation. It all adds up! Thank you!

P.P.S. I’m slowing down for the summer, giving myself permission to publish a post every 2 weeks until September. May you too find ways to relax and listen to the callings of your inner peace.

Awakening – A Crocus Lover’s Delight

Enjoy this celebration of the crocus and all its symbolism through my new painting “Awakening”  &  photography.

What Does the Crocus Mean?

As one of the first flowers to poke its head through the snow in the spring, the crocus is a messenger of hope, new life, new beginnings.

It also reminds me of Easter because of its timing – a Christian celebration of resurrection with much of the same symbolism.

And even if the crocus gets buried again and again by those spring flurries and storms, it emerges triumphant  to open its lightbulb shaped bloom into a radiant cup – open and ready to receive the light no matter what.

Symbol rebirth and often the first splash of colour after a long winter, this beauty has added layers of meaning according to its colour:

  • purple crocus: success, dignity
  • white crocus: innocence, purity, truth
  • yellow crocus: joy, good cheer

May the crocus flowers in this video be a reminder that it’s OK to stand out, tall and proud in all your colours.

And may they spread their cheer in your heart no matter your inner weather today.

I Was Bullied, But It Didn’t Stop Me

painting of tree spirit and Guides

“Lighting the Way” -prints available

I’ve often talked about the role of art in my life. But I haven’t really shared my story as a visionary – one who stayed Connected despite all odds.  So here goes.

I believe we all come into this world with a strong memory of and connection to God / Source (whatever term you’re comfortable with). We also come in with our own support team.

Then starts the process of dis-connection – either because it’s driven out of us by society, or we become so caught up in this world that we forget.

I was lucky. First, I was an introvert. I spent a lot of time playing on my own (or what appeared to be on my own) and my parents respected that. It also reduced the effects of peer pressure.

My mother said I’d wake up singing in my crib and keep it up until she came to get me. I figure I must have known I was never alone. When I was old enough, I spent hours on the backyard swing, singing and communicating with my guardian angels.

Second, my dad was in the Air Force, so we moved 4 times in 5 years by the time I was 10. This meant that I never got overly dependent on one group of peers. I wasn’t molded into my “place in the pack”.

Still, I wasn’t a big fan of people. I vividly remember the day I learned that I had to shut up about my visions and “invisible friends” unless I wanted to be laughed at. I became super aware of the rampant conditional love in our society. I was what you’d call a hyper-sensitive child. It often hurt to be around people. So I preferred the company of my team of Divine Helpers. I also read about Jesus and the lives of Saints… as well as the Smurfs and other European goodies.

Thankfully, we lived in areas where it was safe to let your kids out to play all day without supervision. I’d spend a lot of time in nature alone or with a neighbour’s dog, communicating with God, the elementals, totem animals, forest creatures, and my team Guides and angels.

I wish I could remember more specifics, but I can’t. I just know my family had to send out search parties to find me at dinner time.

My relationship with my team of Divine Helpers got tested though when I was 11. We’d moved back to Ottawa where I re-joined my kindergarten group.

I was bullied for my naivety (I was much more sheltered growing up in Germany than my Canadian peers), for doing my homework, and for the attention I was getting from boys and teachers.

I had to choose – peer pressure or stay true to my Self and my Guidance.

I tell ya! I was terrified. I didn’t want to go back to school the day after I was followed by the whole class and beaten up by the “top girl”. It actually took me years to get over it and forgive.

But I’m glad I remained true to my values and endured the “goody goody two shoes” sing songs for a couple more years until I could go to a different high school than the rest of my class.

The lesson to remain true to my Higher Self served me well. I now knew that those who liked me truly like me, not some pretend-me I’d show up as to please them.  I was seen, appreciated, and loved… mostly.

But the greatest gift of all was that I remained connected to my Guides – mostly while walking or being alone in nature.

When I finally found a painting medium that helped me express my Self (liquid acrylics), I realized that the studio was just as good a channeling space than being in nature.

The more challenging life became, the more I painted. I relied on my friendships with all forms of Spirit to channel the love, healing, teachings I needed to cope with “the real world”.

When healers started taking notice of my work, I knew I’d found my tribe. There were others who’d kept the channel open and were using their connection to serve others.

I couldn’t have put a name to my visionary skills before I started energy healing workshops of various kinds in the 90s. The healing modalities I learned didn’t include visions, but they naturally flowed and I felt safe to share them with my practice buddies. To me, they were entertaining. To others, they held symbolism-filled messages that enhanced the energy work.

It took over 20 years to add my visionary services to my public offerings. Before that, I focused on my energy-based intuitive paintings and inspirational photography.

Now it’s all coming together – the energy-based art and intuitive / visionary services.

I may have kept silent about it for years … bullying can do that.  But I didn’t lose my Connection, which helped me along my Path.  Now I’m here to help you on yours. And for that, I’m grateful!

If I can help mirror to you  your Light and the amazingly beautiful flow of unconditional love supporting you on your path, then it’s my honour and my pleasure. Be it through my art, intuitive readings, or guided meditations, you too can re-connect to your Source and team of Divine Spirits. You too can learn to live intuitively through your very own Connection.

May it be so. Aho. Amen 🙂

P.S.  It took guts to speak up about this a year or so ago, but I’m so glad I did. It’s time to get rid of our camouflage. What’s yours?

P.P.S. I have 3 services which put my visionary skills to work for you.

New Energy Painting Commission: Jillian’s Magnific-Essence

We don’t have to do it all on our own.

There’s all sorts of support to help us on our journey.

Let’s take this video for example.

My first attempts resulted in last week’s out-of-focus blooper reel.

But thanks to my camera’s instruction manual, I was able to do a much better job this time. It reminded me of things I’d forgotten and showed me new options. It carried the knowledge and wisdom of its creators.

That’s similar to the work I’ve been called to do.  I co-create the tools for you to receive guidance from the experts: your team of Divine Helpers / The Universe / God (whatever term you’re comfortable with).

I explain this more in this week’s video, featuring a new energy painting commission – Jillian’s Magnific-Essence.

Each experience is truly unique.

Your painting and process take shape layer by layer.

You’re offered many opportunities to receive energy work, explore symbolism, and reflect on the guidance you receive.

Both the creative process and the final painting help create momentum in your life.

Our journey together is as much a mystery to me as it is to you.  I never know what the next layer will be until I’m guided.

All I know is to trust in the process because I’ve witnessed its transformative potential.

With every new layer comes new possibilities to connect, to shift, to empower, to reflect, to let go, and to open to receiving.

It’s an intensively beautiful journey for both my clients and I.

Here’s what Jillian had to say about her energy painting commission experience.

spiral

“Working with Dominique on an energy painting was a very surreal experience. Not knowing what to expect, I was surprised to find the process both powerful and transformative.

Each layer Dominique provided – from the very first email to the shared images of the painting in progress – had profound meaning for me on a personal and spiritual level.

I was moved to tears more than once, shifting into a new awareness of self.

Now, when I look at the painting we accomplished together, I’m reminded of that transformation. I’m so grateful for this experience, as well as for the beautiful piece of artwork that’s mine, and mine alone.”

I co-create a maximum of 2 energy painting commissions a month so that I can be fully present for you.  Would you like to work with me?

2015 – A Year In Focus

By the dawning of 2015, I’d already decided to devote my year to my art. And that’s exactly what I did. With great focus, determination, trust and growing patience, I put my whole heart into my art, bringing it, my Self, and our partnership to a whole new level.

My art was my baby, my lover, my teacher, my seed and my tree. It was my whole world. I even went into hermit mode for part of the year to accomplish my goals.

As with all relationships, developing and nurturing this one required unconditional love, forgiveness, and faith.

I learned a lot in 2015 and wanted to share its celebration with you.

New Creations

Fourteen new paintings were birthed this year in addition to my mandalas.

Ten of these provided me with a chance to channel the energy I needed at the time, evolving through layers of meaning, reflection, connection, creation, and celebration.

All but one of these originals are still available in my online shop, where you can also order reproductions on canvas, HD metal plaques (only available for some sizes), and fine art or metallic paper.

One was a donation to a project that paired artists with local nursing home residents.

The other three Energy Painting Commissions. What an amazing experience to support others on their transformational journeys through these intensive experiences. This connected me to three women across North America in ways that further opened my heart and soul on my own journey. What an honour and blessing! My intention is to be of service to many more in this way in 2016.

B-School and the Business of Art (or the Art of Business)

I’d set the intention to get my business online in 2015. So in February, when a friend reminded me of Marie Forleo’s B-School, an intensive online business program for big-hearted entrepreneurs, I jumped on board.

This was quite the investment in time and money, but it felt guided and aligned, so I didn’t hesitate. And no regrets.

I now have a professional website that I designed myself and the marketing materials to get the word out. For the first time, you can now purchase my art online, even ordering prints of your favourite paintings and photographs in various sizes and mediums.  That was my goal!

That’s not all B-School gave me.  Through the course of several months, I gained even greater courage and confidence. I’m no longer camouflaging my intuitive gifts. I was able to build a business platform that cohesively offered my intuitive art & inspiration, including my unique style of intuitive reading, which comes with bonus visual gifts.

I also learned from pushing myself to the brink of burn-out, with months of 12-16 hour workdays, 7 days a week. I know the stress and pressure I was feeling was entirely of my making. My self-imposed deadlines came from a scarcity mentality. My technophobia came from overreacting to things outside of my comfort zone or control. There’s a lot I needed to learn about the futility of trying to force things to happen.

With the pre & post modules, B-School was my all-consuming full-time job and personal growth program for about 5 months.  I’ll be going through the it again in 2016. We have lifetime access. Plus my business and I aren’t the same as when we did it the first time. So I trust it’ll take us to the next level – more gently this round.

Enter the Mandala Project – Inspired Action

all 12 Universal Law mandalas in a row

While I was with family in Ottawa a year ago, I received intuitive guidance to create a dozen mandala paintings. So when I got back to St. John’s, I submitted a grant application to help fund the project. I also ordered 12 – 30″ x 30″ canvases, which ended up taking a few months to arrive. Looking back, I’m so glad I followed my inspiration with action.

I then got so busy with B-School that I stopped connecting and listening for guidance. But on March 25th, I had a 30-minute Skype consultation with a coach for intuitives I met through B-School. Without knowing about my intention to create a dozen mandalas, she said my Guides wanted me to create a series on the Universal Laws… and there happened to be 12.

In April, I received news of a $1000 grant by the City of St. John’s, covering part of the materials for my project. My canvases arrived at about the same time. I needed the grant implementation deadline to force me away from the computer and into the studio. I’m so grateful as this was essential to my well-being this year.

Had I not followed through on my initial guidance with inspired action, there’s no way I would have completed the Enter the Mandala paintings by now or hosted the Winter Solstice Event.  Both parts of the Enter the Mandala project brought me in alignment with my life purpose. Here’s what one participant wrote to me about the event:

” I want to express my thanks and gratitude for the wonderful day you in-visioned and brought to fruition  … It was so powerful to be part of the group and to share all the heart-based energies that bathed us for the entire day. Until now, my only real energetic “community” has been online and I held fear around being seen fully in my life, all the while desiring to connect with like-minded and like-hearted individuals and groups. I feel as though the Solstice event illuminated a new path forward for me, while uplifting and transforming the heaviness of past patterns and obsolete beliefs about myself. The powerful energy of your artwork, of your soul expressing itself through your visionary co-creative process and story-telling, combined with the energetic offerings of Leslie, Regina, Katie and Tina was phenomenal to experience!” M.L.G.

This powerful collection (which now has 13 mandalas) has taken me deeper spiritually and artistically than any other painting project before it. The Universal Laws have taught me much, and I’ll continue to practice them as a key to my happiness.

My goal is to find a permanent home for them in 2016 and to keep on teaching what I’ve learned.

Exhibitions and Events

I’ve had many opportunities to share my work in St. John’s this past year. For this I am truly grateful.

These included:

  • a month-long solo exhibition at The Sprout
  • participation in juried and open group exhibitions at Eastern Edge Gallery, the Craft Council Gallery, MUN Botanical Garden, First Space Gallery, Le Festival du Vent, and Earth & Sky Healing Centre and Gallery.
  • displaying my work in the offices of Dr. Laura Nurse, Tina O’Brien (Reiki/Facial practitioner), and National PR (juried pop-up gallery),
  • live painting for 2 days at the NL Folk Festival
  • booths at The Wellness Expo and The Healthy Living Show
  • the Enter the Mandala Winter Solstice Event & Exhibition

These helped me reconnect to the the purpose of my art and of my life. They also helped me practice patience and trust in divine timing, especially when it comes to income.

I love sharing the energy that I channel in the studio. But I have to learn to keep on giving to this relationship with my art and its fans without becoming needy or over-dependent. That only stifles the relationship.

Re-Connecting with the Community

I value my alone time. First, I know I’m never really alone.  Second, I enjoy my company (most of the time). Being in hermit mode was great and very productive. But I knew I could get too comfortable and disconnected if I stayed there too long.

Sure, I’d talk to you through my blog twice a week, but that’s not the same. I had to get back into the community and the opportunities came when I was ready.

  • I taught a fulfilling English Second Language Program at the university for 5 weeks in the summer
  • I met new circles of like-minded souls
  • I joined the Newfoundland & Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs for its business coaching & mastermind group opportunities
  • I taught a few painting workshops though the Art Association of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Association culturelle francophone de Saint-Jean
  • I participated in community initiatives like the Massonic Art Project
  • I spent time some time with friends
  • I joined with community during the Enter the Mandala Winter Solstice Event that I organized with 4 friends.

A Great Year Indeed

I’m so grateful for the foundation I was able to build for my business in 2015. After 26 years of being a part-time professional artist, I’ve made the leap to full-time (or almost). In 2016, I’d like to continue that, but with a better work-life balance.

Apart from a trip to Ottawa to visit family, I didn’t even leave town this year. I’m now open to a lot more leisure time alone and with friends –  in nature and new surroundings.

I’d also like to socialize outside of my current circles of women. If it’s meant to be and in my Highest Good, I’m open to meeting a man who’s similarly dedicated to growing in unconditional love.

I want to nourish my soul through more than just my art.

To do that, I’ll take the time to ask and listen for guidance as I continue to explore and express my love of beauty and the beauty of love.

2015 was a huge year for me and my art. 2016 is a mystery. I’m open to it. I welcome it. And I look forward to sharing it with you.

“All In One” – A Summary of the Twelve Universal Laws

The Law of Rhythm: Enter the Mandala

Law-of-Rhythm-Dominique-Hurley

Welcome to the Law of Rhythm. This is  Mandala #11 in the Enter the Mandala Project, an artistic and spiritual quest to better understand the 12 Universal Laws.

The Law of Rhythm tells us that nothing is random. There’s order in the Universe through the repetitive movement, patterns, and cycles in everything:

  • the waxing and waning of the moon and planets
  • the ebb and flow of the oceans
  • the cycle of the seasons
  • the peaks and dips in the economy, politics, spirituality, and relationships
  • the ups and downs in our emotional, physical and mental energy
  • the successes and challenges in business,
  • etc.

Everything is either growing or dying.

By understanding this rhythm, we can act accordingly and sensibly.

Mastering the Law of Rhythm means finding balance and equanimity no matter which way the pendulum is swinging.

It’s about getting off the emotional roller coaster to be in a state of inner peace and joy, no matter what.

Before getting more into the specifics of how to use the Law of Rhythm to your advantage, let me take you through the intuitive and creative process behind this painting.

Listen In

I love the Guided Visual Journeys my team of Divine Helpers take me on.

I ask a question, close my eyes, and start downloading a mini-movie filled with amazing imagery and symbolism. The interpretation comes later.

Listen in – this is the intuitive reading that gave birth to the Law of Rhythm mandala (18 minutes).

And here’s the Spirit Calling Card spread I got at the beginning of the reading.  They were right – the symbolism they gave me for this painting was very clear.

The Creative Process

I didn’t know the names of all 12 laws before I started this project. But when my Guides asked me to do 12 mandalas on the Universal Laws, I found the list of 12 online. Right before I start my intuitive reading, I read an introduction sentence or two on each.  But it’s only after I’m done the Guided Visual Journey and painting that I like to read what others say about the Law online.

It’s amazing how this time, almost all the symbolism that’s in the painting was talked about on other sites. What great confirmation!

My Guided Visual Journey was accompanied by sound this time – the rhythmic tic tock of the clock or metronome. My first 3 layers of repetitive patterns and cycles were created to this rhythm.

The Symbolism Close-Up

The Ginger Bread Man

The symbolism for the Law of Rhythm was really clear…

Except for the gingerbread man.

It was cute seeing him rock side to side as he walked to to the rhythm of the tic tock.  I smiled when he appeared again swinging from the pendulum. But if it wasn’t for Google, I don’t think I would’ve figured out why he appeared here.

Do you remember the story of the gingerbread man? I didn’t.

He escaped from the old woman who baked him only to be chased by a pig, cow, and horse. In the end, a fox tricked and ate him.

According to Wikipedia, the story “depends on rhythm and repetition for its effect with one event following hard upon another until the climax is reached”.  That’s life – rhythm and repetition. The trick is not letting it take you off guard. Don’t let it eat you up!

In my painting, I linked the gingerbread man to the emotional roller coaster that comes from not understanding the Law of Rhythm. What goes up must come down. But if you get that it’s all part of the ride, you’ll enjoy the journey more.

The Monk

In my vision, I saw a monk sitting on an island of calm.

I painted him under a 3-D disk of gel. When I apply this medium, it’s white. But it spreads for hours and takes about a day to dry. Observing this process reminded me of the patience and time it takes to train the mind.

Take a look. The roller coaster that started at the extremes turns into gamma brain waves on each side of the monk. This represents the transcendental mental states scientists found while studying Tibetan monks in meditation.

Your Turn

Can you see how the rhythm of nature is reflected in the cycles of life and everything in it?

How is this true in your

  • health & fitness?
  • relationships?
  • personal finances?
  • productivity?
  • emotions?

Are you living in the world of extremes or finding balance to overcome the negative downturns?

Know that the pendulum will keep swinging. If it’s down, know that it’s going to head back up. Don’t sabotage yourself by lowering your vibration and getting depressed. If it’s up, don’t overindulge so that there’s nothing left when it starts heading down again.

Examples

If your income is flowing in big time, don’t spend it all. Save some for when there’s a natural slow down in cash flow.

If you’re in a peak physical state for some competition, know it won’t stay that way forever. You’ll need rest. You can’t keep pushing yourself to the max year-round.

If the contracts / clients aren’t as frequent during a period of the year, take the time to learn new skills and create new products.

If your relationship is going through a rough patch, focus on being more unconditionally loving – to yourself and your partner. It doesn’t always mean it’s over.

If you’re mentally tired and not as productive as you’d like, don’t give up.  Take advantage of that natural flow to schedule time in nature or networking opportunities.

Basically, don’t fight the cycles. Work with them to your advantage.

Can you think of other examples to help us understand? Please add your comments to the discussion below.

Enter the Mandala: The Law of Relativity

The-Law-of-Relativity-Dominique-Hurley

Here it is! #9 in the Enter the Mandala Project. This is a series of 12 mandala paintings co-created with my Guides to help understand the Universal Laws.

This is “The Law of Relativity”

So what does it  mean?

You create your misery by comparing yourself and your life to what you judge as better people, circumstances, or times. Everything is relative. But do you use the Law of Relativity to your advantage or disadvantage?

Nothing has meaning except the meaning you give it. Love what is and be happy.

You can break free from your limiting perceptions through the creative transformation of mind and spirit. Use your judgements to teach and guide you out of the darkness and into the Light.

Read on to find out more about the intuitive reading, creative process, and symbolism in this painting.

The Intuitive Reading

These guided visual journeys make for great entertainment. But they’re a lot more.

Packed with symbolism, they’re a source for creative inspiration and learning.

While you listen (23 minutes), notice your judgments about events in the story. Let your observer-self help you recognize that nothing has meaning but the meaning you give it.

You’ll notice my painting doesn’t include the whole story … I left out the prisoners being roasted on a skewer at the poolside feast…  they didn’t seem to mind their fate, but I definitely put meaning into it.

Here’s the Spirit Calling Card spread from the start of the reading.

All sorts of comparisons stopped me from being in love with the present:

  • I tried painting the animals in relation to the size of the children and they ended up lost on the canvas. I painted over those.
  • I kept comparing my representational figures to other artists’ work and to reality – yikes!
  • I  missed the vibrancy of colours in previous mandalas…

It’s only when I stopped comparing that I could enjoy the process.

But my experience wasn’t a loss. It was part of my Guides’ teachings – a gift. Seeing it that way cleared the path for my 12-hour flow the next day.

The Symbolism

Main Characters

Our main characters in this story created chaos through comparisons. Kids and bluejays arguing about games. Rattlesnakes fighting over a book. Rabbits having a tug-of-war with a carrot.

Instead of enjoying their fun, wisdom, clarity, abundance, creativity, and intelligence, they used the Law of Relativity to their disadvantage.

This isn’t good or bad. It just is. These experiences are what led them to the lessons that came after.

The Well

Law-of-Relativity-detail-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2778

Once inside the fortress, they met a judge, who acted as both their teacher and their guide.

Everyone had a  different reaction when he showed them a well. They related it to their past.

For the kids and dog, it was a good thing. They remembered drinking and splashing around after playing in the heat.

But for the snakes, it was a bad thing. They were afraid because one fell down a well and the other had to pull him up with the bucket.

The rabbits also judged it negatively. They’d lost a baby when machinery arrived to dig up a new well.

The well on the screen had no meaning except the meaning they gave it.

Traditionally, a well symbolizes a womb, birth, rebirth, forgiveness, Divine Love, cleansing, and quenching our thirst for higher knowledge.

By understanding the Law of Relativity, we too are offered a chance at rebirth.

Chess

Law-of-Relativity-detail-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2776I’m not a chess player, so I was curious to read why my Guides had chosen this symbol. My first thought was that it had to do with contrast or black & white thinking.

According to vopus.org,

“this game transposes cosmic archetypes, truths about the initiatory road and talks about the ingredients necessary to efficiently fight against the Ego.”

Many who teach the Law of Relativity say that it’s through our tests and initiations that we’re given what we need to strengthen our Light. Mindful effort and step-by-step decision-making will creatively transform our mind & spirit.  This is what the game of chess is all about.

Fortress & Firecrackers

A fortress can mean many things:

  • the obliteration of something at its roots
  • elimination of negativity or troubles
  • security / positive power

Firecrackers represent:

  • a fresh new outlook on life
  • celebration
  • beauty blossoming out of darkness
  • positive new changes

In my vision, the children and creatures strapped themselves to firecrackers to shoot above the fortress walls and back into a better version of their lives.

They broke free from their limiting beliefs and judgments.

Your Turn

Try this.  The next time you have a negative judgment about yourself, someone else, or anything at all, stop.

  1. Figure out what you’re comparing.
  2. Congratulate yourself for noticing it.
  3. Remind yourself that there are no judgments – good or bad, better or worse, until the mind gets involved and compares it to other things.
  4. Analyze what you’re meant to learn here.
  5. Love what is, no matter what. (The Work by Byron Katie is a great tool for this).

It’s your responses to the situations in your life that are important for your growth.  There will always be people who are richer, happier, thinner, more fit, more productive, more intelligent, more successful, etc.  The reverse is also true.

If you’re going to compare your life to others, focus on what’s working for you. Use the Law of Relativity to your advantage, not your disadvantage.

Are you focusing on what’s going well or what’s going wrong in your life.

Are you focusing on the challenges or on the gifts that came from them?

What’s one comparison you’ve made today that led to feeling bad? Turn it around to help you feel better. Tell us about it in the comments below.

New Painting “The Answer’s in the Question”

The-Question-Is-In-the-Answer-Dominique-Hurley

You’ll get it when you see the close-ups below.

So what’s this painting about?

Guidance and the intuitive process.

Your Higher Council is always ready to answer your questions.  All you need to do is ask.

By asking, you open the doors to the answer.

Try this.

  1. Ask Source, your Spirit Guides, angels, and all those working for your Highest Good a clear question. Give yourself a specific time (a 10-minute walk or 2 week window).
  2. Notice all that you become aware of (through your senses, dreams, memories, encounters, etc.)
  3. Interpret those signs in relation to your question.

You don’t have to do it alone.  You’ve got an incredible team of helpers that see the big picture and can help you connect the dots.

Speaking of dots, I had a lot of fun painting these ants for 4 hours. Each one has 4 dots, 6 legs and antennae. Very meditative.

Symbolism of the Ant & Spiral

As a totem animal, the ant shows you how to build your dreams over time – how to be the architect of your life.

They symbolize team work, oneness, patience.

The spiral represent holistic growth, awareness of the one within the context, natural progress.

So from the spiral they feed and through the spiral they come home.

The answer is in the question.

By connecting to Source and our Higher Councils, we can tap into the answers we need. But first we must ask the question.

“The Answer’s in the Question”, 15″ x 30″ (acrylics on canvas – no framing required).  – SOLD
