What’s Your Perfect Role? This Was Mine…

You’re like no other on this planet. You’re your life experiences, skills, gifts, talents, loves, and passions all rolled into a unique combination that’s here to be in and serve the world in ways no one else can.

You’re an individualized expression of the Divine with a unique role to play.  So the question is, what’s your perfect role or combination of elements that would make up your perfect role?

Your answer will be very different than mine.

You can use the meditations at the end of this post to explore your vision in greater depth. Know that part of the process, however, is to let go of the vision and amplify the feeling it gives you to allow the Universe to help you fulfill that vision in ways beyond your imagination.

That’s what I did… for years but more intensively on a daily basis for a month using the meditation in Derek Rydall‘s Awakened Wealth Mastery course.

Exactly a month after I started his program, I received an invitation to fulfill what turned out to be my perfect role.

Where attention goes, energy flows.

Godmother to the 22nd Atlantic Visual Arts Festival (FAVA)

Caraquet, New Brunswick

“God, make me an instrument of thy peace”. This has been part of my lightworker prayer for years.

When I became a full time artist, however, my focus often bounced back and forth from my heart to my head – from thriving to surviving. Becoming a soulpreneur has had its learning curve.

But since part of my mission is to help others align to their True Self to live a happy healthy life, I’ve been constantly reminded of the importance to do so myself.

It’s true, when I first received the organizers’ invitation, I thought that being named the FAVA godmother would be a great opportunity for my career. I equated “godmother” with “featured artist”.

But it was so much more than that, something that gradually dawned on me while preparing for my trip.

What does it mean to be the godmother of an arts festival?

I was chosen to nurture the other artists’ and festival goers’ transformational journeys through my scheduled offerings and presence. What a responsibility… and fun!

The theme of this year’s festival was “La faim de loup” – or “hungry like a wolf” with undertones of humanity’s deeper hunger on a body, mind & spirit level. Basically, the theme was “intuition”.

What a perfect match!

I’d basically been hired to allow my Light to shine and my love to flow through my energy-infused art and intuitive services while opening myself up to a circulation of positive energy in return.

My Team of Divine Helpers had been preparing me for this for years.

Exhibition: Enter the Mandala – The 12 Universal Laws

In 2015, I’d been guided to spend a year creating the 13 Enter the Mandala Project paintings. There’s one 30″ x 30″ mandala for each of the 12 Universal Laws and a summary piece that incorporates symbolism from all 12. See video below.

This was the first time I’d created a body of work that wasn’t for sale (unless I find a buyer for the whole collection willing to display them for the public).

This intuitively guided collection was designed to first teach me about the 12 Universal Laws and then become a teaching tool for others: helping us transform our lives from the inside out by becoming the conscious creators we are meant to be.

The FAVA exhibition was the collection’s first time in public since its 1-day unveiling during a Winter Solstice event in 2015.

I knew I hadn’t painted those mandalas to sit in a closet. Part of me trusted guidance that the collection and I were experiencing a gestation period. But I’ll admit I’d been discouraged when my exhibition proposals for the collection hadn’t been accepted in 2 local galleries.

Still, I held on to visions of the mandalas and I travelling together. The FAVA exhibition was an answer to my prayer.

The festival organizers built a spacious gallery with perfect lighting for my work on the main stage. I was blown away!

The space allowed for 2 chairs to be placed in front of each mandala so the paintings could be used as meditation tools and portals to the Universal Energy Flow.

Many people accepted that invitation to go deeper into both their Self and All That Is by really taking the time to be in the experience.

I was thrilled with the response! It was so fulfilling on so many levels.

I had the honour of energetically supporting a young woman experiencing a healing while sitting in front of The Law of Vibration.

I got to observe a young couple sit in front of each mandala for at least 10 minutes to animatedly discuss them!

I couldn’t help but melt when a beautiful man in his golden years shed one huge tear when I talked about my Source of Inspiration for the collection. The accompanying texts that I’d written as a summary of the painting and inquiry process had inspired him to ask me about my Team of Divine Helpers. His response was but one of so many touching moments during my time in Caraquet.

To witness so many people enjoying, feeling, opening to the exhibition was a dream come true.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Yes, tears are rolling down my cheeks again as I write this – tears of gratitude and joy.

Intuition Into Action: A Gateway to Creativity

Another way my Path had led me to this role was in the development of my intuitive services, workshops, and Intuition into Action: 5 Steps to a Happy Healthy Life presentations.

Traditionally, a godmother’s role is to take responsibility for the spiritual education of her godchildren.

Part of my role as the FAVA godmother wasn’t so far off from that definition. I was asked to share in my intuitive gifts and teachings, something that brings me such joy and fulfilment while helping others.

I’ve been inspired to do this work and love it. Still, it isn’t always easy. I’ve had to cancel workshops due to lack of registration after months of preparation and marketing. I’m still learning about the business and marketing sides of things.

Thanks to several recent conferences and a yoga festival, however, I’d come to the conclusion that I love being a special guest in someone else’s group. That way, I can focus on sharing my offerings instead of marketing.

So I’d been focusing on that in my visioning meditations and the FAVA was a perfect manifestation of it.

42 participants attended the visionary art workshop, in which they experienced a channeled meditation before translating their inner discovery journey into a mandala drawing and list of inspired actions.

Many reported that the messages and visions they received had made a difference in their lives, their art, and their understanding of the energy flow as they witnessed it in the group.

*Note: Many of the photos in this blog post are by Louis Légère on the FAVA team.

I also gave a 1.5 hour talk and Q & A session on Intuitive Living & Intuitive Painting. The feedback was equally affirming that my work is making a difference. That’s a wonderful feeling indeed!

To share the intuition offerings I’ve developed in recent years in an event that not only featured my visual art but fully supported and appreciated my desire to share life-affirming processes was truly a vision come to fruition.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My Beloved Godchildren

Just so you know, I giggled when I wrote that subtitle.

The Artists

One of my favourite parts of being the godmother of the festival is that I was given a leadership role when it came to the 20 or so other artists involved.

As much as I may be an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and public speaker, as much as I can be shy or uncomfortable in public. Hyper sensitive to energy in crowds and an introverted social observer by habit, there have been many times when I’ve chosen to be on the outskirts.

Not this time. I was hired to be a leader and a nurturer, and I thrive in that role.

Instead of focusing only on my exhibition and events (there was a lot to coordinate), I really enjoyed the encouragement my role gave me to connect with the other artists.

I consciously made the time to circulate to their booths to chat or shoot videos that I posted on Facebook or sit with them during meals to have heart-to-heart conversations (instead of taking quiet solo retreat times).

My interest in the other artists and ease with which we shared connections, techniques, experiences, etc. delighted me.

I met so many wonderful beings in this process and look forward to deepening some of these peer relationships through collaborations, exchanges, and more.

Being the FAVA godmother gave me the responsibility and permission to just let my full self shine. I did and was reminded that I shouldn’t need a role or excuse to be and do what I did at this festival – and am grateful for that lesson. I’ll never forget it.

When we shine our light, it gives others permission to shine. Please remember this next time you wonder if you can really fulfill the role of your dreams.

The Community

The reception, appreciation, generosity, enthusiasm, open-heartedness, etc. that circulated during the whole weekend and the days leading up to it was amazing.

Together, we raised our vibration. The more I gave, the more I had to give. The more I received, the more I allowed myself to receive.

As a godmother would, it was my pleasure to proudly share my Caraquet experience, FAVA, and the many wonders & miracles that took place while I lived my perfect role in such a warm-hearted community. If you follow me on Facebook, you know I enjoyed spreading the word about the love & beauty I witnessed in the heart of Acadian country.

From the organizers, staff, and volunteers who helped me with my events and showed me around town, to the light technician who helped my work shine, to the people in the streets that recognized me from my picture in the program they received in the mail, to the costumed characters at the Acadian Historic Village who crossed the time barrier to say they knew who I was – I felt so welcomed!

Yes, I could see how such attention could go to my head. Instead, I let it go to my heart.

I was scared when I came out of the visionary closet a few years back. It wasn’t easy to talk about things I’d learned to shut up about when I was a child. Intuition, however, is always an invitation to grow. I’m glad I followed guidance.

To be so welcomed, acknowledged, appreciated, and given a platform to be fully me without fear or resistance has left me a changed woman.

So I’ll keep asking:”What would love do now?”, “How can I be an instrument of thy Peace dear God and blessed Universe”. And I trust that my next perfect role is on its way.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The Bucket List

Part of my vision for my life is that my teaching/ art will allow me to continue to travel the world exploring and expressing my love of beauty and the beauty of love.

Thanks to my FAVA sponsor, Tablo-Solution, my 2-week road trip across Newfoundland to New Brunswick was fully paid for.

I also got to check 2 things off my bucket list during this trip: the 7-hour ferry from Port-aux-Basques to North Sydney (which I’d read about in many NL -based novels) and a 2.5-day drive on the Cabot Trail on the island of Cape Breton on my way home from the festival.

I’ll write more about that in the next post.

I wonder… does an event in Ireland need a godmother? That’s still on my bucket list and my mandalas now have excellent crates to travel in. I’m ready! Hee hee.

I’ll keep visioning and generating the feelings of my ideal life and am open to what the next perfect role the Universe has in store for me.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Enter the Mandala: The Law of Relativity

The-Law-of-Relativity-Dominique-Hurley

Here it is! #9 in the Enter the Mandala Project. This is a series of 12 mandala paintings co-created with my Guides to help understand the Universal Laws.

This is “The Law of Relativity”

So what does it  mean?

You create your misery by comparing yourself and your life to what you judge as better people, circumstances, or times. Everything is relative. But do you use the Law of Relativity to your advantage or disadvantage?

Nothing has meaning except the meaning you give it. Love what is and be happy.

You can break free from your limiting perceptions through the creative transformation of mind and spirit. Use your judgements to teach and guide you out of the darkness and into the Light.

Read on to find out more about the intuitive reading, creative process, and symbolism in this painting.

The Intuitive Reading

These guided visual journeys make for great entertainment. But they’re a lot more.

Packed with symbolism, they’re a source for creative inspiration and learning.

While you listen (23 minutes), notice your judgments about events in the story. Let your observer-self help you recognize that nothing has meaning but the meaning you give it.

You’ll notice my painting doesn’t include the whole story … I left out the prisoners being roasted on a skewer at the poolside feast…  they didn’t seem to mind their fate, but I definitely put meaning into it.

Here’s the Spirit Calling Card spread from the start of the reading.

The Creative Process

All sorts of comparisons stopped me from being in love with the present:

  • I tried painting the animals in relation to the size of the children and they ended up lost on the canvas. I painted over those.
  • I kept comparing my representational figures to other artists’ work and to reality – yikes!
  • I  missed the vibrancy of colours in previous mandalas…

It’s only when I stopped comparing that I could enjoy the process.

But my experience wasn’t a loss. It was part of my Guides’ teachings – a gift. Seeing it that way cleared the path for my 12-hour flow the next day.

The Symbolism

Main Characters

Our main characters in this story created chaos through comparisons. Kids and bluejays arguing about games. Rattlesnakes fighting over a book. Rabbits having a tug-of-war with a carrot.

Instead of enjoying their fun, wisdom, clarity, abundance, creativity, and intelligence, they used the Law of Relativity to their disadvantage.

This isn’t good or bad. It just is. These experiences are what led them to the lessons that came after.

The Well

Law-of-Relativity-detail-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2778

Once inside the fortress, they met a judge, who acted as both their teacher and their guide.

Everyone had a  different reaction when he showed them a well. They related it to their past.

For the kids and dog, it was a good thing. They remembered drinking and splashing around after playing in the heat.

But for the snakes, it was a bad thing. They were afraid because one fell down a well and the other had to pull him up with the bucket.

The rabbits also judged it negatively. They’d lost a baby when machinery arrived to dig up a new well.

The well on the screen had no meaning except the meaning they gave it.

Traditionally, a well symbolizes a womb, birth, rebirth, forgiveness, Divine Love, cleansing, and quenching our thirst for higher knowledge.

By understanding the Law of Relativity, we too are offered a chance at rebirth.

Chess

Law-of-Relativity-detail-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2776I’m not a chess player, so I was curious to read why my Guides had chosen this symbol. My first thought was that it had to do with contrast or black & white thinking.

According to vopus.org,

“this game transposes cosmic archetypes, truths about the initiatory road and talks about the ingredients necessary to efficiently fight against the Ego.”

Many who teach the Law of Relativity say that it’s through our tests and initiations that we’re given what we need to strengthen our Light. Mindful effort and step-by-step decision-making will creatively transform our mind & spirit.  This is what the game of chess is all about.

Fortress & Firecrackers

A fortress can mean many things:

  • the obliteration of something at its roots
  • elimination of negativity or troubles
  • security / positive power

Firecrackers represent:

  • a fresh new outlook on life
  • celebration
  • beauty blossoming out of darkness
  • positive new changes

In my vision, the children and creatures strapped themselves to firecrackers to shoot above the fortress walls and back into a better version of their lives.

They broke free from their limiting beliefs and judgments.

Your Turn

Try this.  The next time you have a negative judgment about yourself, someone else, or anything at all, stop.

  1. Figure out what you’re comparing.
  2. Congratulate yourself for noticing it.
  3. Remind yourself that there are no judgments – good or bad, better or worse, until the mind gets involved and compares it to other things.
  4. Analyze what you’re meant to learn here.
  5. Love what is, no matter what. (The Work by Byron Katie is a great tool for this).

It’s your responses to the situations in your life that are important for your growth.  There will always be people who are richer, happier, thinner, more fit, more productive, more intelligent, more successful, etc.  The reverse is also true.

If you’re going to compare your life to others, focus on what’s working for you. Use the Law of Relativity to your advantage, not your disadvantage.

Are you focusing on what’s going well or what’s going wrong in your life.

Are you focusing on the challenges or on the gifts that came from them?

What’s one comparison you’ve made today that led to feeling bad? Turn it around to help you feel better. Tell us about it in the comments below.

Enter the Mandala: The Law of Cause and Effect

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurely

Here’s mandala #5 in the Enter the Mandala Project, a series of intuitively sourced paintings to better understand the Twelve Universal Laws.

Welcome to the Law of Cause & Effect.  It teaches that today is the result of your past thoughts and actions. Tomorrow is being shaped through your thoughts and actions of today.

The Challenge

The Law of Cause and Effect has been the most challenging of my Enter the Mandala Project paintings to create so far. I not only connected to Light and Love, as is my usual practice in the studio, but also to Darkness and Fear.

It was a journey into contrasting choices, emotions, thoughts, actions, beliefs, and resulting realities.

At first, I struggled with the idea of including the dark side in my painting. My Divine Helpers explained, however, that this was a necessary element of the teaching tool I was co-creating.

The Intuitive Reading – Visual Journey

As with all the Universal Law mandalas, I started with an intuitive reading. This is a visual journey that my Spirit Guides and angels take me on in response to my request to explore each law. It’s where I gather my ideas and symbolism.

During this reading, my whole body and energy field was plunged into a state of despair and fear. It was only momentary, but I’ll admit, it was much easier to focus on that yuckiness than to focus on the joy and manifested success of the second part of the journey.  That in itself was part of my lesson.

Listen in if you’d like to hear the stories behind this painting. I was so surprised by the “bad trip”, though, that I didn’t really succeed in expressing the fullness of my experience.

The Spirit Calling Card Reading

It was only after the reading was done that I understood the full message of the initial Spirit Calling Card spread.

SCC-Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurley

By experiencing contrast (love / fear), we can better appreciate the power of free will – the power of the thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and actions that we choose every moment of every day.

“Man becomes what he thinks about all day long.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

When we can fully appreciate our own creative power, we open ourselves to unconditional love – for ourselves and others.

What else does this reading mean to you? Feel free to comment at the end.

The Karmic Wheel

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2296bIf you believe in karma, you believe in the spiritual principle of cause and effect, not only within this lifetime, but across lifetimes.

Good deeds and intentions lead to happiness and bad deeds and intentions lead to suffering.

The karmic wheel at the center of this mandala represents the cycle of life – our repeated births, rebirths, and opportunities to work out our karma.

“Situations seem to happen to people, but in reality, they unfold from deeper karmic causes. The universe unfolds to itself, bringing to bear any cause that needs to be included. Don’t take this process personally. The working out of cause and effect is eternal. You are part of this rising and falling that never ends, and only by riding the wave can you ensure that the waves don’t drown you. The ego takes everything personally, leaving no room for higher guidance or purpose. If you can, realize that a cosmic plan is unfolding and appreciate the incredibly woven tapestry for what it is, a design of unparalleled marvel.”
― Deepak Chopra

The Chains

Everything happens for a reason. In fact, everything in our current reality is linked to what came before it.

I represented this chain of events / thoughts/ feelings with 2 chains circling inside the mandala.

The Teeter Totter

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2296

I love it when this happens.  After seeing a teeter totter in my intuitive journey,  I found one on a cause and effect website, where I was looking for quotes to add to this post.

The teeter totter is a great representation of the physical side of the the Law of Cause and Effect. If one side goes down, the other inevitably goes up.

“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” ~Sir Isaac Newton

In my vision, I saw the teeter-totter transform into both a pendulum and the balancing scales of The Lady of Justice, adding to the relationship between choice and consequence.

Fishbone Cause and Effect Diagram

This symbol came out of my Internet research, not my intuitive vision.  It’s called the Ishikawa Diagram.  It shows the various causes for a particular event, grouped in various categories.

I used this graphic symbol in the base of the teeter totter to represent how our past has led to our present.  I also used it in 2 of the corners pointing outwards, to reinforce how we are creating our future through our present decisions.

Buddha says it well:

“If you want to understand the causes that existed in the past, look at the results as they are manifested in the present. And if you want to understand what results will be manifested in the future, look at the causes that exist in the present.”

This is the quote I wrote in the outside ring of the mandala.

Fear

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2297

The dark side of my journey was like being an actor in a horror movie.  I knew it wasn’t my reality, but I witnessed and felt the physical, emotional, and mental consequences of

  • addiction
  • unhealthy eating and viewing habits
  • fear, anger, hate,
  • inner and outer violence and the threat of violence
  • reactivity,etc.

Needless to say this part my intuitive and creative experience wasn’t fun.

It took conscious effort not to let it affect me… for too long.

I have to admit, though, scrawling all those cartoon swear symbols added a bit of comic relief to the heaviness.

Love

The lighter side of the picture was inspired by the story in my vision.

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2304

A little boy wanted to befriend his new neighbour, who spent long periods of time sullenly staring out his window.  The boy followed his inner guidance through a series of inspired actions (having a lemonade stand to raise enough money to buy a baseball and glove). He was then able to draw our his neighbour and they connected through this shared passion, becoming good friends.

Instead of focusing on the separation between them, the boy kept a loving vision in his mind. From there, he followed his inner guidance, leading to growth, fun, and friendship.

I also included the cheering crowds from my vision, standing in front of marquees announcing love, peace, joy, health, and success.

Change your actions, and you change your life… Transform your thoughts, and you will create a brand new destiny.” Adam Sicinski

Oops

Law-of-Cause-and-Effect-Dominique-HurelyDo you notice how the words love and fear are not facing the same direction?

Well, that was a gentle lesson on the law of cause and effect.

I was watching something online when I was painting these words. My spacing was great, but I guess I was too distracted to notice “love” was heading in the wrong direction.

There are no mistakes. I smile now. It’s a perfect “accident”.

Journey Into Divine Oneness – Enter the Mandala

Law-of-Divine-Oneness-Dominique-Hurley

This is the first painting of 12 in the Enter the Mandala Project.  I’m so excited to share The Law of Divine Oneness with you!

What a journey! Here’s what I’ve learned through the co-creation of this mandala.

Sourced from Divine Energy, all that is seen and unseen comes from the field of infinite possibilities.

Together, we move as Divine Oneness in a spiralling web of interconnectedness. As to one, so to all.

The Intuitive Journey

Visionary artists receive their inspiration in many ways: through dreams, meditation, mind altering substances, etc. I’m one of the rare ones who’s never even tried drugs. That’s not a good or bad thing – it just is.

For this series of paintings, I decided to use my intuitive journeying process (which I call my mini-movies) to dive deeper into the Twelve Universal Laws.

As you’ll hear, I first asked Source and my team of Divine Helpers to guide me.

I then travelled through worlds of imagery to collect messages and symbols related to the Law of Divine Oneness.

Since I asked on behalf everyone, you get to play detective with me as we decipher these messages. Have fun with this. I did!

Listen In:

While listening to this 15-minute audio, take a look at the Spirit Calling Cards below and the Creative Process photos.  See if you can find how I incorporated the symbols I was given. I’m not much into realism, so some symbols are, well, symbolic.

There’s no right or wrong way of doing this. If you’d rather just close your eyes and experience the journey that way, go for it.

The Spiritual Process

I’m sure you’ve heard that spiritual growth isn’t always smooth.

Have you ever decided to work on an issue only to start having opportunities to do so hit you in the face?  This form of “ask and you shall receive” can be challenging for sure! But the rewards are worthwhile.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that having asked to understand the Law of Divine Oneness, I got to do so – not only through my intuitive journey and painting, but in every day life.  Immediately!

Right after a very absorbing painting session, I went to the kitchen, where my housemate presented me with a huge mirror (no, not literally). She helped me see that I was not only disconnected from her, but also from the here and now.  I was still in my head and in my painting, reflecting on the meaning of Oneness.  Wow!

After a few seconds of shock, we both recognized that we were being offered a wonderful opening for connection, unconditional love, and understanding.  I suddenly realized on a cellular level (as my entire body was vibrating) how true it is that what we do to one person affects everyone and everything everywhere.  At first, I could almost sense the shockwaves traveling around the planet. But then, because we chose to lovingly deal with the situation, I could see this having a much greater effect that reached far beyond the borders of our kitchen and even our world. I was grateful to my Divine Helpers for showing me that.

There have been quite a lot of shifts in my personal world since I started this exploration into the Law of Divine Oneness.

I’m coming out of hermit mode after a winter of diving more deeply into my Self and my art/business.  I’m feeling called to being of service at a greater level. I’m reconnecting to the infinite possibilities, to gratitude, and to people. I’m letting go of fear, of judgment, of limiting beliefs.  Great stuff!

Your Turn

I’d love to hear what this post/painting inspires in you. Please share your perspective, insights and comments in the discussion below.  Your contribution is a valuable part of this community process.

What will your journey through this first Universal Law open up for you?

You are such a beautiful and important part of the Divine Oneness.

What you and I do to raise our level of consciousness will help us all.

We are all interconnected.

A Universal Spirituality

Enter the Mandala is an invitation to open up to the Divine Energy that is in everything and everyone everywhere.  It’s also an invitation to go deeper into both your Self and All That Is.

The Universal Laws go beyond religion – they govern all our lives.

Mandalas

The word “mandala” means “sacred circle” in Sanskrit. These have long been used as spiritual tools in many cultures and religions.

Mandalas help focus attention, provide guidance, and establish sacred space for meditation.  They’re a portal into the Universal Energy Flow.

This spiritual and artistic project began when I received intuitive guidance to create a series of 12 mandala paintings based on the Universal Laws.

Some of the Laws were already familiar to me by name or essence. But this was the first time I’d studied them directly with my team of Divine Helpers (Source, Guides, Angels, Higher Self, etc.).

The symbolism in these mandalas was pulled from an intuitive reading that began the process of inquiry into each Universal Law.

The Twelve Universal Laws

Many are familiar with the Law of Attraction, made popular by the movie The Secret and the channellings of Abraham Hicks.  I’ve shared stories on stage of how this law has worked in my life.  It’s truly amazing.

But it’s not the only Law. There are 12.

The Inquiry Process?

The creative process into the 12 Universal Laws as you see here lasted 10 months. It included:

  • asking: intuitive guidance
  • creating: 30″x 30″ mandala paintings
  • investigating: researching the symbolism, reading & listening
  • discussing: on my blog and during live community events
  • reflecting: the learning & remembering never ends

This project is part of my own transformational journey. But it’s so much more than that.

The mandalas have become teaching tools. They’re a chance for you to:
