Heartstrings & New Beginnings

Dear friends,
It feels good to be back here with you after so many months.
For years, I showed up every Tuesday with intuitive art and inspiration, but since my move from St. John’s to Ottawa in April, my focus has been on accompanying my father through a profound transition.
Many of you walked with me through my own letting go—emptying my studio and home, sending my artwork out into the world through the Make Me an Offer sale to support this new chapter.
Since then, my days have been devoted to Papa—first through his hospital stay and rehabilitation, and now as he settles into a retirement residence by a park-lined river. The 52 steps in his old house made this change necessary, and though it was not easy, grace has guided us.
I spend part of each day with him, and the rest preparing his house for sale. After months of de-cluttering, garage sales, and giveaways, we’ve just signed with a realtor, and the house will be on the market after Labour Day.
Papa has been working steadily on his strength and endurance, and it shows.

Our walks in the park and around his neighbourhood are growing longer, with fewer breaks.
I admire his resilience after the low point he faced in hospital.
Tomorrow, we set out on a 3-day trip that has been a motivating goal all summer.
After a joyful one-day outing to Gananoque to see Mary Poppins with a friend, we’re now off on an organized bus trip to southern Ontario for the Shaw and Stratford theatre festivals—a tradition my parents enjoyed for years.
In many ways, the greater lessons are mine—discovering how to care with love without clinging, to guide without controlling, to serve while staying open to flow.
These are the same lessons that are gently shaping my days and pointing me toward balance.
Through it all, Spirit continues to remind me that this path unfolds one inspired step at a time.
In October, Papa will be celebrating his 93rd birthday, a milestone that fills me with gratitude.
That same month, I’ll be moving into a studio apartment close to him—a new beginning that I hope will bring more balance, with space for yoga, meditation, and the soul-nourishing practice of painting again.

This week, a little nudge brought me back to my keyboard for the first time:
Newfoundland Canvas announced their very first Labour Day Sale, inspiring me to create a new 2026 calendar, Heartstrings.
Designing it was a journey of gratitude and nostalgia, gathering some of my favourite paintings from my 14 years in Newfoundland—a chapter that will forever tug at my own heartstrings.

Thank you, dear ones, for your patience, your messages of care, your continued support, and for walking this unfolding journey with me.
May these creations bring beauty and inspiration into your life, as they have into mine.
With love and gratitude,
