A Love Letter to the Trees – 4 new paintings
Some stories unfold like a straight path; others arrive as spirals—guiding us in circles until we land exactly where we’re meant to be.
These four tree paintings were born not from a plan, but from a conversation with Spirit—one of those quiet dialogues where intuition tugs, synchronicities whisper, and life rearranges itself around a single prayer.
Two months ago, my father was growing stronger, more independent. I was preparing to move into what I affectionately call my monk’s cave in a luxury building—an unexpected sanctuary in Papa’s neighbourhood, and a leap of faith financially.
I hadn’t actively pursued income since leaving Newfoundland; I had been tending to what mattered most and allowing life to recalibrate. The question of income hovered like mist: How will I begin again?
My last sales — the garage sale and the “Make Me An Offer” painting event in Newfoundland — had carried me through the transition, but I could feel the current shifting. It was time to paddle in a new direction.
So I did what I always do when I’m uncertain—I walked in nature asking Spirit for help.
I spoke aloud to the trees and the sky, as I often do, letting the Universe know: “I’m ready to give again. I’m open to whatever is in my Highest Good.”
I didn’t know if I had the strength to rebuild a business from scratch or plunge back into my previous careers teaching or government work. But I prayed for something in my neighbourhood, something part-time, something gentle enough to continue spending time with Papa, tend to my wellness, and breathe after such an intense year.
The next morning, two building staff were in my apartment assessing a maintenance issue. On a whim, I asked what businesses would be moving into the retail spaces below me. One of them said:
“There’s going to be a craft shop.”
When I searched Google for information about the new shop downstairs, nothing came up—no mention of a craft store at all.
But what I did find stopped me in my tracks: a “Coming Soon” Google profile for a boutique called A Love Letter to the Trees: a paper shop dedicated to recycled and next-generation tree-friendly products, chosen with care and conscience.
It felt like the universe had slipped a note into my hands. Trees, paper, beauty, intention—four pillars of my own creative life.
I felt that unmistakable inner Yes.
That night, I wrote a love letter to the owners—not a résumé, but a gesture. I told them that I too was new to the neighbourhood, that I was willing to help part-time, and that their store’s name aligned with my life’s purpose: exploring and expressing my love of beauty and the beauty of love.
To deliver it, I used one of my photo cards from the 90s on recycled cardstock . I had found it in Papa’s old supply. Even the materials were steeped in memory and meaning. When I slipped it into their mailbox, I smiled: it was the same space where my massage therapist used to work before she moved across the street from me. Spirit winks.
The following day, Carol Steuri reached out to say she had just closed a job posting with over 600 applicants for 1 position, but she still asked for my résumé and letter of intent. Weeks later, I was one of a small group chosen for a phone interview, then one of seven invited in person. It felt aligned. It felt destined.
I thought: This is what Spirit has in mind.
When I wasn’t selected, the human part of me felt disappointment, yes—but also bewilderment.
If intuition led me here, then why this outcome? What was I being shown?
Then the magic began.
During a 2.5-hour walk (ironically while trying to buy skates for my birthday), I got gloriously lost and ended up in front of a Michaels store. On impulse, I walked in and came out with my arms filled with canvas. The next day, heavy rain blurred the city into a womb of grey light, cancelling my walk with Papa. I surrendered to it. And I painted.
I didn’t ease into the work. I poured myself into it—four trees, four portals, four conversations with the Divine. Each canvas was a prayer, a transmission. Hours disappeared. When the storm passed, so had something inside me.
I realized: The job wasn’t the guidance. It was the catalyst.
Because of that single inspired action—a handwritten letter—Carol learned about my art. She invited me to display a tree painting in the shop. She chose Sacred Grove (see below). And the other three are finding their own destiny, ready to meet whoever they speak to here.
This is the nature of intuition.
It doesn’t always deliver the thing we think we’re pursuing.
It opens doors we would never have known existed.
I still don’t know if my art will be the way I earn income this coming year.
But I do know this:
Spirit listened.
The prayer was received.
And the unfolding has begun.
If one of these paintings resonates with you—if a tree calls you home—reach out.
If Sacred Grove is the one, you’ll find it at A Love Letter at 137 Beechwood Ave once the varnish is cured next week.
Sometimes a single yes can change the course of a season.
What is one small yes that could extend roots into new soil, weaving you into the landscape of the life you’ve been longing for?

Blues hold the frequency of serenity and trust, while white, pearl and silver embody renewal, radiance and presence; together they offer a sanctuary of calm as we reach beyond familiar limits, moving past what we know without losing our center.

Glow Beneath the Snow (12″ x 16″):
Layers of light and color reveal the life that endures beneath the surface in Glow Beneath the Snow.
Carved from snow-like, granular textures, this sun-kissed tree emerges in the grooves of life’s many rhythms, anchored by a mysterious, shimmering black stone.
The painting celebrates the subtle patterns of winter, the resilience of life, and the luminous pulse that animates all things—a gentle heartbeat linking seasonal stillness to the eternal rhythm of growth and renewal.
Amethyst Dream (12″ x 16″):
Anchored by an inverted amethyst worry-stone, guardian of insight and spiritual awakening, this birch forest flows in bands of blues and violets that protect, purify, and raise us to higher frequencies.Amethyst Dream invites you to step beyond the dream and into the luminous field of Truth, letting the stone’s serenity and clarity guide you as you awaken to your radiant, higher self. This piece is a portal—a gentle invitation to move beyond illusion.
Sacred Grove (16″ x 20″):
Sacred Grove is a symmetrical forest portal, a sanctuary where every element aligns in harmony and sacred rhythm. At the heart of a smaller gateway, a cobalt-blue figure stands in tree pose, grounded, present, and balanced in dynamic stillness.
At the sacral chakra, a clear cubic zirconia anchors the painting’s inner fire—symbolizing creative flow, emotional balance, and the crystalline clarity that emerges when we stand rooted in our own sacred power.
At her feet, a stream flows into the valleys of daily life. Luminous colors and sacred forms celebrate connection to self, nature, and the eternal currents of Light that flow through all beings.
This painting invites stillness, alignment, and communion with the deeper pulse of life.
