Reconnect Lesson 9: Rise Up Rise Up!

Have you heard? We’re in a time of ascension! It may be hard to believe with all that’s happening in the world, but I believe it’s true. Of course there will be resistance. But together we can help raise the vibration of the planet and all those on it. How? By raising our own consciousness, our own vibration.

What you do for yourself, you do for others. It affects everyone else in this Divine Oneness.

So rise up, rise up dear one! It’s time to live in alignment with the divine essence you truly are.

Don’t let yourself spiral down in a funk from the many distractions, details and dramas that bombard our senses from every direction.

Remember that you are an individualized expression of the Divine. Yes, you’re human, and being in a funk is part of being human. But you’re also Spirit.

Often, unhappiness, loneliness, despair, depression and other unpleasant realities of being human happen when we believe we are separate from God (or whatever term you resonate with) and from others.

So part of your job as a spirit in a human body is to recognize when you need to take the time to recognize, allow and process what’s triggering a funk and to then raise your vibration.

As the Law of Vibration taught us, our job as vibration managers is to raise our consciousness, our vibration so that we can attract more of the people, places, and events that resonate at that frequency. This is closely related to the Law of Attraction.

So don’t deny your sadness or frustration. Listen to it, love it, and then let it go. You’re often being shown things that are ready to be released as they’re leaving. Acknowledge them, and then let them leave.

Don’t hang on to the stories or feelings or allow them to drag you further down. That’s wallowing and yes, it’s also part of being human.

Instead, reconnect to your True Self, remembering who you truly are. Asking your Higher Consciousness to make wise choices to bring you back into alignment with the love, peace, and happiness at your very core.

Exercise: Create & Post your Raise My Vibration List

When the mind and heart are clouded by lower vibrations, it can be hard to motivate yourself to change gears. You may not even know you need to if that black cloud over your head is so thick you can’t see what’s happening.

That’s why having a very visible “Raise My Vibration List” can be such a blessing.

Whether you’re in a funk or simply busy, it’ll be a daily reminder to prioritize time to raise your vibration.

What does that for you?

I know that listening to one of my own meditations (available on YouTube) or an energy transmission from Steve Nobel- The Soul Matrix (which inspired this painting) helps me start my days on the right foot.

And if I’m going to have to deal with technical issues, lighting a candle, smudging, or saying a little prayer first can help me stay higher on the emotional guidance scale longer.

I also know that there’s no way I can get stuck in a bad mood if I sing & dance a few Sanskrit chants on my mini-trampoline.

And if at all possible, I make it outdoors to breathe the fresh air, take a few photos, and bask in beauty.

What raises your vibration? Make a list. Post it where you’ll see it every day. On the mirror where you brush your teeth is a good place.

After a while, you won’t need that reminder. As soon as you feel yourself dipping, you’ll recognize your desire for a higher vibration and make Higher Consciousness choices faster.

Do you need inspiration? Here are a few ideas.

10 Ways to Raise Your Vibration List

* Meditation

* Stretching & exercise – even standing up tall in a power pose for a minute.

* Healthy eating

* Music

* Gratitude list

* Time with pets, children, loved ones

* Affirmations, mantras

* Time outdoors – lying on the ground, hugging a tree, etc.

* Smudging, prayer, or other sacred rituals

* Service to others, random acts of kindness

Leave room on your list so you can add to it.

The idea is to have a variety so that when you are heading down the emotional guidance scale, you can easily access what you already know will help you change directions.

Once you’re grooving in the higher vibes, you’re bound to feel more connected to Source & humanity as a whole.

What you do for your Highest Good, you’re doing for the Good of All.

You have an important role to play in the ascension of the planet. Thank you!

How You Make Your Day in 17 Seconds

yellow bird in pink flowers in Bali

“Garden of Light” from the Connection Photography Collection in my shop.

What do you wake up thinking every morning?

How do you feel?

Did you know you had 17 seconds to set the pace for the rest of the day?

And if that snowballs to 68 seconds (17 x 4), you’ve created the vibrational pull for the Law of Attraction to kick in.

Like attracts like any time of the day. But your vibration in those first 17 seconds are the most powerful. I learned that from Abraham Hicks.

Born New Every Day

I love the fact that sleep is a reset button. It’s like being “born new” every day. Isn’t that great news?!

But I’m not mastering this 17-second co-creative opportunity.

I’m told I used to wake up singing when I was a young child. And I’d keep singing in my crib until my mom came to get me. My inner child has a lot to teach me.

Now I wake up with my running checklist in my mind. And if I reach for my phone and see it’s past 5am, stress kicks in. There’s no practical reason for it… I’ve just run that program for so long that it’s on auto-pilot.

My mental checklist has boggled people for years.  It’s set a very productive tone for my days, but not a relaxing one.  I’m still learning to have fun…

For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been aligning with Source Energy more first thing in the morning. I’ve developed the habit of singing my mantra “Love, peace, joy, health, wealth and happiness. Love, peace, joy, healthy wealth and freedom.”  It’s catchy and my brain is catching on.

How to Build Momentum For Your Day

Awareness is the first key. Take the next few days to notice what you’re thinking about upon waking. If you don’t like the momentum you’re building with those thoughts and feelings, change them.

Focus is the second key.  It doesn’t just happen.

You have to decide to be happy to build the positive momentum to create it.

There are days when I wake up in total appreciation for how quiet it is. Traffic and construction haven’t started yet. It’s blissful. When that’s my first thought and feeling, I naturally continue thinking of everything I’m grateful for.

Appreciation is one way to focus and create momentum.

Going straight into meditation instead of reaching for the phone is another.

Can you think of more? I’m open to ideas. Please list them below in the comments.

17 Seconds Throughout the Day

The 17 second rule isn’t only true first thing in the morning. That’s just the most powerful time.

Notice your thoughts and feelings throughout the day. Put a chime on your phone to remind you to pay attention.

And if you’re going to focus on anything negative, complain, or wallow during the day, keep it under 68 seconds. Remember, like attracts like.

Yikes! Now it’s 6:30. Time to get on with my day.

Ooops. Cancel that.

It’s only 6:30 – I’ve got my whole day ahead and have already written today’s blog post!

Was that under 17 seconds?  🙂

Enter the Mandala: The Law of Attraction

The-Law-of-Attraction-Dominique-Hurley

Follow your bliss and you’ll attract the keys to unlock your magnific-essence. The Universe will answer your prayers.

When my Guides first asked me to create a dozen mandala paintings based on the Universal Laws, this is the only one I could name. Welcome to mandala #7: The Law of Attraction.

Did you see the movie “The Secret?”  That’s what made The Law of Attraction so popular.

My favourite mentor though is Abraham channeled through Esther Hicks.

Painting this mandala while listening to Abraham Hicks on YouTube was pure bliss.

As Joseph Campbell said:

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”

“Follow your bliss.” That’s what the Law of Attraction is all about.

Today, I give you a new twist on the teachings, this time from my own team of Divine Helpers.  You get to listen to the intuitive reading and see how I created this mandala with many of the symbols they provided in my guided visual journey.

May this inspire you to put the Law of Attraction into action.

Listen In

When I ask Source, my Spirit Guides, and Angels a question and close my eyes, they deliver a mini-movie filled with symbols – it’s like watching a Disney-Pixar film filled with lessons. It’s beautiful and meaningful.

I asked on behalf of you and me, so trust that there’s a message here for you too.

As you listen (30 minutes) and look at the painting, think about what these symbols mean to you. What messages do you get?

This was the Spirit Calling Card reading I got at the beginning. Perfect, don’t you think?

The Symbols

I offer some insights, but feel free to add yours to the comments below. Let’s learn from each other.

The Planetary Prayer Beads

Law-of-Attraction-wip-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2592Prayers beads are common in many spiritual practices. I grew up using the rosary to focus my mind and prayers. Mala beads are now popular with the yoga crowd and those following Buddhist rituals.

Seeing that friendly giant using the planets to pray in my vision was heart-opening! It reminded me of:

  • the gravitational attraction of the planets in an expanding universe
  • astrology
  • something much greater – a higher power
  • the universe answering our prayers

Can you add to this list?

The Mountain Slide

Law-of-Attraction-detail-Dominique-Hurley-DLH_2639

In my vision, I saw  kids sliding down a huge spiral slide that went from the top of the mountain all the way through the earth.

As they laughed and played, their joy attracted all sorts of goodness to them.

It was like static attracting lint.  The happier they were, the more pixy dust they collected on the way down.

When they got to the other side of the planet, they had no trouble running back up to the top to go again.

The soundtrack was great – imagine a busy water park on a hot summer day.

Before going down the slide again, the kids would put what they’d attracted into their locker.  These lockers had no doors.  I got a real feeling of trust and abundance from that.

If you look closely, you’ll see symbols of love, peace, joy, health, wealth, happiness, and more in those lockers.

The Power of Emotion

If the line-up for the slide got too long, the children held hands at the base of the mountain and sang.

This was all about keeping the emotions high.  There was no impatience or frustration.

These kids were still connected enough to Source to know that feeling good is what brings more goodness into their lives.

Abraham Hicks calls that your emotional guidance system. No matter where you are on the scale below, all you need do is start thinking thoughts that make you feel a bit better. It’s not about giant leaps up the ladder. Just head on up.

So if you’re in a state of despair, for example, anger can be very helpful. But if you’re worried, don’t let it turn into anger. Do something or think something that might turn that anger into a less charged frustration.

The Emotional Guidance Scale (From the book “Ask and It is Given”, pg. 114)

  1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
  2. Passion
  3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
  4. Positive Expectation/Belief
  5. Optimism
  6. Hopefulness
  7. Contentment
  8. Boredom
  9. Pessimism
  10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
  11. Overwhelment
  12. Disappointment
  13. Doubt
  14. Worry
  15. Blame
  16. Discouragement
  17. Anger
  18. Revenge
  19. Hatred/Rage
  20. Jealousy
  21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
  22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

Like attracts like. So what are you feeling today?

The power of emotion was shown to me over and over again in my guided visual journey. I chose to represent this as swirls of colour, both in the circle of singing children and the characters in the outer ring of the mandala.

That’s where you’ll find:

  • the meditators who connected to Source by quieting their minds;
  • the skater who went from feeling totally neutral to joy through her passion;
  • the kids who were playing marbles (their futures were swirling inside those “marbles” – another word for mind and rewards).
  • the magnets that were created by those emotions
  • the keys (including a USB key, which I thought was funny) to unlock what we desire in this life

Pulsating Shining Rings

There are no accidents in intuitive painting.

I wanted to paint the pulsating heartbeat of the world from my vision.  I started with a bright blue pulse around the mountain, but when I stood back, it overpowered the other elements.

So I covered it up. But its energy and texture are still there.

Then, I painted a golden heartbeat ring instead.  Love it!  It’s about life and the vibration we send out into the world by our very being, both on the surface and below.

We don’t have to be loud about what we want. It’s all about asking and receiving through what Abraham Hicks calls the Art of Allowing.

Good Things Are On Their Way

I was in such bliss painting and listening to Abraham Hicks that I know more good things are on their way. I trust that.

I ALSO know I’ve attracted a slow start to the sales in my online shop because of all the technological stress and near burn-out I experienced while creating it.

I wasn’t always following my emotional guidance system.

But that’s OK. It’s all part of the learning.

I know that doubt, regret, or complaints would only stop the abundance of clients and experiences I’ve asked for. I’ll just stay in my bliss and take action when inspired.

These mandalas have been great teaching tools for me, and I hope they’ve helped you too.

What’s one thing you can do today to follow your bliss?

Magical Manifestation – Cycling in Vienna

Have you seen the movie “The Secret“? I really recommend it. I already believed in the power of manifestation before I watched it, but it was refreshing to see it so clearly visually represented. I even know a few skeptical businessmen who were really affected by this movie when it came out in 2006. Anyhow, this past week has been a great reminder for me about the strength of intention in our lives.

IMG_6358 copyI mean, being here in Vienna and heading to Bali in a few hours for more art workshops are both huge examples of manifestation (thanks to the support of the Universe and so many of you!). It’s the smaller examples, however, that remind me daily of the potency of our thoughts and feelings.

DSCN3322Take this week, for instance. You’ve already read how I had wanted a haircut and asked my friend in the Czech Republic for a recommendation while on the way to visit friends I hadn’t seen in over 20 years. Within a couple of hours, sitting in their living room enjoying everyone’s company, I got a great haircut from their now-grown-up daughter who happened to be a hairdresser. That was a super-speed illustration of ask-and-ye-shall-receive. Thanks again Petra!

Well, my last day in Vienna provided me with quite a few more examples / reminders.  Here’s how manifestation works. While in the Czech Republic, a few friends talked about going cycling together in May or June. I got so excited and gave a big internal “yes!”. The place they described sounded fantastic and I hadn’t biked since I got to Europe. It was on my wish list. Apart from walking, cycling has been my main mode of transportation for decades. As part of my fundraiser to come here, however, I had followed through on guidance to sell “Baby”, my men’s 10-speed bike that I had had for 31 years and the only possession I shed tears for when it came time to let it go.  It had been my vehicle to so much joy,  freedom, health, and savings after all, but I hadn’t used it much for 2 years because of all the hills in St. John’s. Anyhow, I put it up for sale online at a really high price and sold it within a day – a clear sign it was meant to be. Keep this cycling story in mind as I take a little detour.

IMG_6335On my last day in the Czech Republic, my friend Lucka suggested we go pick wild garlic to add to our lunch. The idea of picking fresh food in the forest thrilled me, but time ran out, so we used some she had picked the day before instead.

Back to Vienna. I woke up yesterday not expecting to do much except finish packing, bring a last little bag of stuff for storage at school, and meet a couple of folks for lunch. I had put out an invitation to classmates and teachers to join me at The Reform House,  a healthy restaurant that serves mostly vegan food: one hot dish and your choice of 3 amazing salads for 7.50€. One of my classmates goes regularly by tram or scooter, but since I didn’t have a transit pass, I never had time to make it there and back to school on time by foot. I would always ask him to report on his choices, however, and kept telling myself I’d go one day. Lunch at the Reform House was definitely on my wish list.

IMG_6373So that’s what I did. I met Timea and Rachel there and had a delicious hot spinach pastry with beet & bean salad, Waldorf celery root salad, and potato salad. Delicious!  My original plan was to go back home after that. You can imagine, therefore, how thrilled I was when Timea invited us for a bike ride. OK, well, actually,  my first thought was “I don’t want to risk getting hurt before Bali, and most folks here don’t have helmets. Plus I’ve seen how dangerous tourists are when they walk unknowingly across bike paths in the core… I was one of those!”. So, as often is the case, I didn’t say a huge “Yes!” right away. Believe it or not, I’ve always had trouble adjusting to changes in plans and often see the potential danger of things at first. See, it’s all about feeling the fear and doing it anyway. It’s about stretching comfort zones and realizing that Hey! I had asked the Universe for this in the first place through my joy at the idea of cycling just a few days ago. So after a minute of humming and hawing, I did say “Yes!” and had a most magical day!

IMG_6338IMG_6332Timea had 2 bikes, so I took one of those and Rachel registered for the rent-a-bikes that are all over town. Once you’re registered, they’re free for the first hour, and 1€ for the second hour, etc. So from thinking I was only going to stay home and pack while waiting for the next day to arrive, I found myself atop a most comfortable bike (I like sitting up straight – much better for my neck and back than Baby – my next bike will be more like this), cycling on Vienna’s superb bike path network through the city and across the Danube canal, through the Prater Park, and along both the new and old Danube rivers. I should mention that cycling on the Danube Island had been on my wish list since last September when I realized it was way too long to walk. Needless to say, I grinned most of the afternoon, thrilled at the sites along the way, the sunshine, the company, the feeling of zooming down a huge spiral ramp, etc. I even got to help a lady get her friend’s dog out of the river, where it was determined to get itself killed by a couple of equally stubborn swans. Quite the chaos!

It was only when Timea turned onto one of the many dirt paths in the Prater Park and stopped in a field of wild garlic that I realized I was living the power of manifestation in triple (Reform House, cycling, and picking wild garlic!). I believe that my simple “I’d love that!” feeling in Omice on Wednesday opened up this opportunity with Timea. I wanted to pick garlic, and I did. Perfect!

What a magical day indeed! As we sat near the new Danube river, me with a cola popsicle (something I hadn’t had since I was a child – so good, especially since I haven’t even had a Coke in years), and them with beer and pastry, I marveled at the law of attraction.  Joyful thoughts and feelings coupled with clear intention and letting go had once again led to what I wanted, as well as to deep gratitude (part of the cycle). Thank you Universe, Czech friends, Timea & Rachel, and Higher Self, who helped me get past the initial “No, I’m too scared” feelings that almost stop me from living my life at times. What a great reminder as I head off this morning for my big adventure in Bali. All is well indeed!

So here I am at the Vienna Airport –  6 hours early.  OK, I’ll admit, 6 hours is really early even for me, but I was ready and waiting at home anyway and no longer had my Internet cable. Plus the public transit system is amazing here! So now I can use the free wi-fi, people-watch, and ensure I won’t miss my plane due to some unforeseen event or long line-ups at security….  I don’t mind sitting around, especially after all that great exercise yesterday.  I can daydream, meditate, set intention, pray, and think pretty well anywhere.  Time to manifest a great month in Bali.

What thoughts and feelings are you projecting out to the Universe?
