Quenched in Light
“Grow deep roots to harvest rich fruit! When your roots run deep, you cannot help but bear the fruit of the Spirit.” — Michael Beckwith
The painting Quenched by Light emerged from that very idea.
Like trees, we are not meant to live disconnected from our Source.
To become fully ourselves — to live awake, creative, loving, inspired lives — we need to root deeply into the unseen essence that gives us life. The deeper the roots, the more naturally the fruit appears.
This painting became a meditation on that flow.
The tree woman stands rooted in the Earth while opening upward into the lotus sun above, symbolizing enlightenment, self-realization, our connection to the Divine.
The energy rising through her reminds me of sap moving through a tree, much like the awakening flow through the chakras when we become aligned and open to Spirit moving through us.
An amethyst crystal was applied to her third eye chakra, symbolizing intuition, inner vision, and the awakening of deeper spiritual awareness.
So often we search for Light outside ourselves, believing it exists somewhere beyond us. Yet the deeper truth is that this Light is already within us — expressing through us, dreaming through us, creating through us.
We are not separate from it. We are part of it.
The process of creating this piece became its own kind of spiritual practice.
There were days when I painted for eighteen hours, layering marks, colour, and thousands upon thousands of dots. Somewhere in that rhythm, inspiration took over and I simply followed where it wanted to go.
One of my favourite aspects of the finished painting is how the vibrant energy flowing through the window frame reappears again in the leaves of the tree woman herself, slightly subdued by an iridescent paint that shifts in colour as you walk by.
The same life force exists in every part of the piece — just as the same Divine essence moves through all of life in endlessly unique expressions.
Perhaps that is what it means to be quenched by Light:
to remember that the Source we seek has been flowing through us all along.
If this painting speaks to something within you, I invite you to spend a little more time with Quenched in Light. You can explore additional photos and details of the piece here in my shop.
And perhaps, as you sit with it, you may also be reminded of the Light already rooted within yourself — waiting to rise, expand, and express through your own unique way of being in the world.
Love,
Dominique
