Description
There are moments when we feel very small.
Not in a diminishing way—but in the quiet realization that we’re part of something infinitely larger than ourselves.
The Flower of Life has fascinated people for centuries. Formed from evenly spaced, overlapping circles, it appears in art and architecture across cultures and has become one of the most recognized symbols of sacred geometry. Mathematically, it emerges from the simple repetition of a single circle. Spiritually, many see it as expressing the interconnectedness of all life.
The beautiful almond-shaped forms created where the circles overlap are called the vesica piscis—a shape that has become a familiar thread throughout my work.
Beneath the geometry lies layer upon layer of vibrant mark-making—energy, movement, intuition, uncertainty, and joy. Rather than covering those layers completely, I allowed them to remain visible through every vesica piscis. The pattern doesn’t erase the beautiful chaos beneath it; it reveals a deeper harmony already present within it.
Then, almost as an afterthought, a tiny meditator appeared at the bottom of the composition.
At first glance, you may not even notice her.
That was intentional.
She’s built from sections of moulding paste that rise nearly a quarter of an inch from the canvas, giving her a tangible, physical presence. Yet parts of her dissolve into fields of tiny dots, hinting that we’re never only physical. We exist somewhere between form and energy, between what can be touched and what can only be sensed.
She isn’t overwhelmed by the vast geometry before her.
She’s in relationship with it.
Perhaps that’s what contemplation really is—not stepping outside the movement of life, but becoming still enough to perceive the deeper pattern flowing through it.
Sometimes the most profound response isn’t to understand.
It’s simply to behold.
