Follow Your Bliss – the painting

Can you feel the happy energy vibration emanating from this piece? It makes me smile each time I see it.

“Follow Your Bliss” is about the joy that courses through your veins and the rich fruits that bubble up and grow from your experiences as you emerge more fully into your True Self.

As you follow your bliss, you’ll uncover a wealth of opportunities and riches.

I say “uncover” instead of “discover” because this is a wealth that was always within you and generated by you.

This is the basis of the Law of Attraction.

As you add more and more of what you love doing, being, feeling in your days, the more you’ll attract matching vibes in the people, places, things, and experiences around you.

So for your sake and that of the whole planet, follow your bliss! I have no doubt that as you do, your contributions of energy, inspiration, and fruit of all kinds will bless everyone in your environment.

May the energy of this painting remind you to reflect on what helps you generate that feeling of bliss in your life and to add more of that into your schedule. Your wellness depends on it!

And if it makes you giggle with joy as it does me, bonus!

Creative Multitasking & The Freedom Effect

The Freedom Effect dragonfly painting

“The Freedom Effect” (11″ x 14″) – SOLD – Acrylics, lapis lazuli, glass beads, mica on canvas

Warning… this blog post may ruin your idealized image of me. Hee hee…

I recently shared this with a few people who were so grateful I did that I’ve decided to share it with you now.

Whether it inspires you to get creative or leads to being more gentle on yourself, good!

I smile when folks talk about what it must be like in my painting studio: “You must have incredible focus and patience Dominique.” Sometimes…

It’s true that there are projects in which I’m totally in the creative flow, channeling visions, messages, and energy healing while painting – especially Soul Energy Portraits.

But that’s not always the case.

That would be awfully intense to keep up during my beloved 12 to 16-hour painting marathons.

So sometimes I sing along to Sanskrit chants in meditative bliss.

Other times, I’m simply playing and experimenting while listening to inspirational podcasts.

Then there are the times I’m painting to escape – from my overly Left-brain to-do list or my overactive thoughts.  In this case, I’ll often play movies in the background.

“How can you do both at the same time?” you may ask.

Easy. It actually helps. It gives my ego and/or Left analytical brain a task or distraction so that the Right creative brain can be free to do it’s thing.

I call it creative multitasking.

It keeps the critic, worry-wart, risk-aversive little me busy in one corner while I connect to my Higher Self & Spirit to create.

The Freedom Effect

That’s what happened while creating the detailed layers of this painting called  “The Freedom Effect”.

I was in the mood for some dot-therapy. It can be so relaxing to just make dots for hours on end.

But parts of me were objecting – either out of boredom, frustration, or negative self-talk: “You’re overdoing it with the dots, Dominique. Keep it simple stupid! You’re ruining it!”

So on this dot-making day, I watched (or more accurately listened to) Netflix documentaries on Einstein, Ram Dass, Tesla, and Chris O’Neil (yoga photographer).  Very inspiring!

I watch Netflix for a living! Not bad, eh?

It’s all part of creating a life by design that incorporates so many of the elements I enjoy. I’m a total movie-buff!

And I apparently didn’t overdo it with the dots because this little jewel of a painting was sold after I posted work-in-progress photos on Facebook – before it even got posted in my online shop.

Now that’s a good day at work!

So now I ask you, what does or what could creative multitasking looking like for you?

Feel free to leave a comment below.

Painting & Poem: A Call to Swana Grace

Thank you to the 23 who contributed name suggestions for this new painting. I’ve incorporated them all in this poem below.

From the Beginning – a New Painting

Doesn’t it feel great to get back to something you love doing but haven’t done in a while? What is that for you?

Although I’m a professional artist, I don’t always paint as much as I’d like. I hadn’t painted since May!

When July rolled around, I started work on a Soul Energy Portrait Experience for a client.

As is my custom, I used any leftover paint from each step of that process to begin a new painting on the side.

Then, about 4 layers in, this painting started taking on a life of its own.

It called to me through visions and extensions of the energy work I was doing for my client.

And that’s how “From the Beginning” came into being – inspired by the energy flowing through me in the service of someone else.

Then, the hours and hours of dot therapy – a form of meditative prayer – infused this painting with extra layers of high vibrational goodness. Can you feel it through the heart-warming and lower chakra nourishing colours?

From the Beginning

SOLD

As the mighty oak tree is already present in the acorn, so is unconditional love already present in our hearts and souls.

Our job as spiritual beings having a human experience is to allow that Love & Light germinating at our core to sprout, grow, flow, and blossom with the dawning of each new day.

Be it in relationship with yourself or with others,
May that love grow
May your love flow
May you be and do love
Rooted in the rich soil of your inner work
Connected to Source and All That Is.
And may you meet, along your path,
The love of one who chooses to grow with you
Learning together the many ways in which
Unconditional Love can manifest in relationship.

This is my prayer for you.
This is my prayer for me.

So be it. So I let it be.

A Return To Love – Painting & Vision

A Return to Love - Mermaid & Merman spiral / circle painting

“A Return To Love” – keep scrolling for more photos.

The energy still emanating from the painting “A Return to Love” supports those wanting to manifest or deepen a loving couple relationship. Is that you?

*

Focusing on the vision of your ideal life is an important step of the manifestation process.

By first imagining the various aspects of your ideal life (relationships, career, environment, social/recreational time, health, etc.) you put yourself in the  feeling state of that being, doing & having.  You’re increasing your vibration and sending your wish list to the Universe through your feeling state.

I knew that.

The added layer that Derek Rydall has added in the course work I’m doing in his Awakened Wealth Mastery program is to then let go of the details of the vision to amplify the feeling tone – ten times, fifty times, a hundred times… Really feel it!

By letting go of the details and focusing on amplifying the feeling, you allow yourself to trust that the Universe will respond with people, opportunities, etc. that match the amplified feeling tone. They’ll likely be even better than you originally imagined.

As Derek explains it, it’s about giving in, surrendering – of

“letting go of control or ego agendas, of struggling to make things happen and allowing something new and more to emerge, to be welcome. It’s about resigning from being the manager of the Universe and becoming an employee, a servant of it. It’s about letting go of the will.”

Envisioning The One … or the Next One

When doing Derek’s meditation, I’m no longer single.

I’m sharing life with the ideal-man-for-me and our cat & dog in our beachside home doing the work we love. Our intent is to grow more into the unconditional love we already are at our core with ease, grace, and joy.

In this vision, we were already vibrating high when we met and help raise each other higher through our commitment to our own and each other’s happiness.

I’ll spare you all the details, only to say that the feeling of it is wonder-full. When amplified, it’s divine! It takes my previous 2 long-term relationships to a whole new level.

In the past 7 years as a happy single, I’ve been focused on my art, my business, and my personal development.

It’s time to bring the romantic partnership energy back up from wherever I buried it.  My first step is to feel it and paint it.

A Return To Love – Painting in the Feeling Tone

Painting has always been a way for me to live in my feeling tone – to stay connected with my Higher Self and team of Divine Helpers for long periods of time, raising my vibration.

So I decided it was time to co-create a new couple painting.

The only 2 couple pieces I’ve painted since my return to Newfoundland were both in 2015: Side by Side and Divine Union .

Since then, that energy’s been on the back burner. It wasn’t on purpose. I was just too busy working at home or attendeding women-only events.

So here’s “A Return to Love” the first of what may be a new series featuring couples / partnership energy.

“A Return to Love” celebrates the union, or re-union of the divine masculine & feminine within ourselves and the couple.

Their movement towards each other is propelled by love & compassion (mica energy used in the scales on their tails).

This painting invites you to be in ideal partnership – to dance in the deep emotional pools for the natural evolution of your souls.

The Tibetan or Chinese turquoise is reported to add the energy of prayer to its subject. It’s a bringer of natural good fortune, fidelity & protection. It’s also a good stone for clearing the Throat Chakra – for self-expression. It supports the desire to be real, to be authentic in all you are, do, and have together.

As you’ll see in the photos, the figures appear white from one angle but are iridescent pink / blue from another. This encourages you to reveal and unconditionally love each others’ true colours in the fertile waters of relationship.

May “A Return to Love” also help you to manifest your ideal partnership – either with someone new or within your existing relationship.

Spirit Song Painting & Guided Meditation

Spirit Song whale painting with Derek Rydall Quote

My heart swells with love as I share these Spring Equinox / Easter gifts with you.

May they encourage you to sing your Spirit Song, blessing your own life and the lives of all those around you.

Spirit Song – the painting

“Spirit Song” is part of a growing series of paintings inspired by the great ocean that surround the island of Newfoundland, where I live.

It calls you to rise up from the depths to move upwards & onwards, creating momentum in your life.

When you raise your vibration, you align with your Higher Self, making it possible to connect and communicate with your team of Divine Helpers.

The energy infused into this work encourages you to emerge from the winter more fully as your Self.

On a side note, have you ever seen a humpback whale up close?

I was blessed to have this experience while in a zodiac a few summers ago. I found out that the bumps on their nose are called tubercles. They contain hair follicles. I include a few photos I took in the album below.

“Spirit Song” (12″ x 18″) – SOLD
Acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas – no framing required.

Sing Your Spirit Song – the meditation

“Sing Your Spirit Song Meditation” is a guided creative visualization I channeled to help you connect to your Light.

I’d asked my Facebook Friends what they needed support with.  I was then honoured to be used as a channel for Spirit to work through me.

Take 45 minutes in your day to close your eyes and be fully present in this participatory exercise.

May it open you up to the clarity & courage to sing your Spirit Song into the world.

You’ll:

  • raise your vibration,
  • melt away your obstacles,
  • see with the eyes of your soul,
  • and connect to the Guidance you need to transform 3 specific challenges in your life.

“Thank you so much! What a beautiful gift! I got some interesting insight that is helping me release the Winter and accept the positive as I accept my right work.” ~ Carol Galloway – San Diego, CA

P.S. If you’d like me to channel a meditation specifically for your needs, click here.

The background music, “Adrift Volume 2” is one of the new royalty free tracks I purchased from Christopher Lloyd Clarke to support your journey. I trust you’ll enjoy it.

An Oceanic Trio of Paintings

Does the ocean call you? Are you, like me, a water person?

Then you’ll enjoy this oceanic trio of paintings, the results of my first experimentation with a new professional pouring medium that gives added dimension to the watery effects of fluid acrylics.

I thought it’d be easy since I’ve been playing with acrylic washes since the 80s … but if you keep scrolling, I’ll let you in on my humbling creative process.

First though – enjoy the results. These paintings looks great side by side as they’re all 12″ tall.

Which is your favourite?

Aperçu – The Glimpse

(9″ x 12″) – SOLD

SOLD

Is this magical creature being given a glimpse into the very core of Mother Earth – the fires of its origins, of the past? Or has it been shown an opening to a new path illumined by the celestial sun?

There’s an energy of curiosity in Aperçu (the Glimpse). It’s that fear mixed with excitement that comes from moving into the unknown. It’s an invitation to embrace the mystery & grow.

The sea horse is also a symbol of patience, protection, perspective, persistence, friendliness, contentment, high-perception, and generosity.

What other meanings are you feeling here?

Into the Depths

(12″ x 16″) – SOLD

This majestic humpback whale invites you to dive deep into the depths of your Self to rediscover your flow – your magnificent essence. It beckons you into a journey of ease & grace as you say YES! to the self-discovery that connects you to the Oneness of all that is.

The whale is also symbolic of:

  • deeper awareness
  • cosmic consciousness
  • emotional rebirth and understanding
  • nurturing community
  • appreciation for beauty
  • balance

Momentum

(12″ x 12″) – SOLD

Jellyfish don’t move by themselves. Their momentum is influenced by a greater presence with which they are at one – the winds of the seas. They’re guided by Mother Nature to survive and thrive.

This jellyfish is a reminder that for you to thrive, you need to live in harmony with Nature, knowing that you don’t have to do anything on your own. You too can connect to Source Energy to be guided to move with ease & grace.

Jellyfish are also a symbol of love, intuition, faith, balance, sensitivity, and flexibility through challenges.

The Spirit of Exploration

The painting studio is my sanctuary – where I go to connect with Spirit and play.  But it’s also a science lab – where I experiment with new materials and techniques to achieve desired effects.

The trick is to stay in sanctuary mode when the science experiments fail.

You see, I was excited when I found out that my professional acrylic paint companies had developed pouring mediums that would enhance the effects I was already achieving with fluid acrylics.

I expected instant success.

My growth challenge was to remain in a state of inner peace even when hundreds of dollars of supplies seemed to be going to waste.

Plus the sticky messes that covered my studio needed days to dry before I could use the space to try again.

My desire to dive deep into the creative flow was stumped by delays, frustration, and scarcity mentality.

Can you relate to the humbling feelings of becoming a beginner again?

It’s all part of the growing process. You stretch through trial & error. There are no failures – just learning.

Having an open heart and positive mindset are key to the creative process.

The trick is to invite your Higher Self and Spirit in and to keep the ego and fear out of it.

Once I’d accepted that my investment in these expensive art supplies were an investment in play & learning, it all flowed so much easier.

The backgrounds you can see now in this oceanic trio are the 3rd thick layer of  pouring medium mixed with fluid acrylic colours. Each colour has a different density or weight, affecting how they interact when they’re poured together and slowly shift over time. You have some control, but there’s lots of room for surprise.

Once I’d co-created a look that pleased me, the creatures appeared in my mind’s eye – leading to days of that meditative painting and dot-making bliss that nourishes my soul.

Leslie’s Soul Energy Portrait

Leslie's Soul Energy Portrait

The co-creative process behind Leslie’s Soul Energy Portrait was different than my usual client experiences.

Leslie Bridger, also known as the Wizard of Awe, is both a very good friend and a collaborator in events/ workshops.

She’s also been a big supporter of my art since we met, periodically adding to her collection and organizing a fundraiser for my Visionary Art Scholarship Fund before I headed to Vienna to study in 2013/14.

She’d long talked about commissioning a piece when the time was right. That time revealed itself late last fall.

“I had this sense – a vibrational message from the Universe – that you needed to create this painting for me at the end of 2017 to keep me grounded in and connected to all that I am.  I knew it would help me align with the bigger energy of 2018 and encourage me to take the courageous actions I needed to take this year.”

Unlike my usual Soul Energy Portrait Experiences (in which I channel an opening meditation, receive visions, do energy work, and send daily love letters) this one was based on three symbols Leslie received during a Steve Nobel meditation we listened to together at the beginning of a business meeting.

Once we’d finished the meditation, she told me about the infinity symbol, a heart, and a figure with her arms in the air and asked me to create a painting that incorporated all three.

Like with most of my paintings, there are so many layers of paint, symbolism, and energy here.

One day, when I wasn’t even planning to paint, I went to the studio to do my yoga, but it called me so strongly I found myself deep within the process for over 10 hours… and never did my yoga. I couldn’t keep up with the instructions I was intuitively receiving, yet also felt so calm, relaxed, and meditative.

In addition to the symbols that Leslie asked me to work with, I could feel the influence of Steve Nobel’s mediations. He invites the powerful energies of archangels and of the transformative grids of both ascending light from earth and descending light from the heavens.

These energies are present in the initial layers of patterns that can still be seen through the figure as well as the thousands of iridescent dots surrounding it. It’s a reminder that we are not separate from all that is. It is a part of us and we of it.

When Leslie saw it almost completed, she just stood there in silence for the longest time and then said:

“Wow, Wow, Wow!  I’m in awe. I just love the energy!  I feel this incredible Light radiating from this painting that I know is mirroring me as I go onward, upward, forward. I’m ready to shine more than I was willing to in the past. I can see that it’s a reflection of me. And I love that the heart is open – open to giving and receiving.”

I was so glad she liked it. Relieved even. I’d told her “I hope you’re ready to shine”, conscious of the amount of iridescent paint and the mirror I was guided to include.

The white & gold mica at the core of the infinity symbol add to this shine – infusing her path with love & compassion. When the infinity symbol had appeared in one of my visions for Leslie, they were almost as wings. With time, they evolved to include the crimson blood of humanity, the healing energies of Nature and archangel Raphael, and the celebratory feeling of Christmas coursing through it.

The heart in peacock colours is reminiscent of this creature’s ability to transform the toxins / poisons it ingests into beauty. Likewise, Leslie has transformed her near-death experience and challenges into the love and light she famously shares with others.

This is what she just shared with me, a month after bringing her Soul Energy Portrait home:

“I just love this piece. When I’m sitting in front of it and looking at it, I feel everything within my body aligning with all that I am. It’s amplified this divine knowing, this divine energy. It’s aligned my heart, soul, the human me with my divinity. When I’m saying my affirmations or listening to a piece of music I was guided to while contemplating the piece, I feel all of the energy within the cells of my body being activated. And I really feel it when I don’t take the time to do this in the morning. Then, I feel misaligned, incomplete, that there’s something energetically not right. So thank you, thank you. It’s become an important piece of what I need to do every day so that I can become the leader that I know I’m here to be. I love you, my dear friend, my painting and all the magic you create! ” ~ Leslie Bridger – The Awe Project

P.S. I work with clients all over the world to create Soul Energy Portrait Experiences. I only do a few a year as these are very intensive processes. If this is the divine timing for yours, please contact me to make arrangements. Learn more here…

Reborn of Compassion

After a blissful play marathon that brought 14 small paintings to life, I was moved to slow down and go deeper into the energy and vision work that characterizes my art.

It’s from 30 hours of being in this contemplative and co-creative space that “Reborn of Compassion” came into being.

I can’t express how open and expanded my heart felt (and continues to feel) when I gazed upon this finished painting.

The energy I channeled for this piece brought tears of joy to my eyes. So loving….

The Fiery Flow

After applying layers of wet upon wet fluid and high flow professional acrylic paints onto the canvas, I got out of the way.

My job was done. I’d mixed the colours of fire with the movement of water and knew that if I kept trying to force things to happen, it would just mess things up.

Truly, the studio is a great classroom for life.

For over an hour, I literally watched the paint dry while singing Sanskrit yoga chants cross-legged on my colourfully stained drop sheets.

The colours gently flowed and mixed across the canvas, helped by Spirit and the gentle slope in the floor.

It was a very meditative process.

This fiery flow represents the energy, power, passion, and creativity of a new dawn (rebirth & renewal).

The Tree of Life

It took several more hours for that base coat to dry once the colours had stopped running, so I had time to work the design on paper before transferring it onto the canvas.

This painting was sparked by seeing a tall half-circled Celtic-style tree design on a castle wall in the Lord of the Rings movie. I’d gasped in awe when I spotted its simplicity and beauty in the background.

I purposefully didn’t take a picture, so that I wouldn’t be tempted to copy it. But its tall thin dimensions perfectly matched this 18″ x 36″ canvas I had been eyeing in the studio. I’d never painted a really tall tree with a small top before.

Interestingly enough, it wasn’t until the painting was finished that I recognized it as a mandala tree. Fun!

Do you see the iridescent dome shaped designs in the large outer layer of the tree top? I almost filled them in with more designs, but I’m so glad I listened to my intuition and left them empty. They’re two-way portals – for prayers to go out and Divine Love to come in. They offer a violet filter through which to change our paradigms, perceptions – and to see Truth.

The Peacock

The peacock came to me in a vision when I asked my intuition what energy and symbolism also needed to be included.

There was also a pumpkin – perhaps inspired by the fact it was Thanksgiving weekend – but I didn’t include that in the final design.

I love peacocks! I so enjoyed painting one years ago, and its energy was strongly present in a Soul Energy Portrait I painted for a client last year.  I welcomed the opportunity to work with it again. After all, they’re gorgeous and transformative!

Peacocks are thought of as the modern version of the phoenix – itself a powerful symbol of transformation.

But what most impresses me about them is their ability to eat poisonous snakes and plants and transform these toxins into nourishment. What a perfect symbol for transforming one’s challenges into beauty.

This is further enhanced by their many eyes (fanned out along their tail), representing the wise vision necessary to see clearly and live in alignment with Truth.

Add to that its association with Kwan-Yin, goddess of compassion, and what’s not to love?

I had to use a bit of this compassion on myself. My original peacock design had a much stronger S-curve, which is so visually appealing. But once I got into the paint, I kept adding and adding to the fullness of the tail and so I lost some of that original intention. Still, I love it!

When you let go of what you think things should be, it’s easier to accept what is.

The Spiral

I used sacred geometry to strategically place the centre of the Tree of Life and the peacock’s eye in the design. After gazing at the almost-finished painting, however, something about the amount of sky at the top versus the ground at the bottom jarred me.

So I decided to add an element – that’s when the triangle with a spiral appeared in my mind’s eye.

This symbol and string of dots represents being embraced by Source Energy as we do the work of being human – being constantly reborn of compassion … for ourselves and others.

It’s the work of bringing the human back into Spirit.

May gazing at “Reborn into Compassion” raise your vibration to help you make the necessary changes in your life so that you too can live more aligned with your Truth.

“Leap” (10″ x 10″) – SOLD
Happy New Year Dear One!

“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities.”
― Gloria Steinem

It’s a new year! It’s bound to be different than last year, but how?

That’s up to you!

Let your imagination take you into the realm of limitless possibilities.

Are you ready to take the leap to explore new interests, new groups, new restaurants, new sports, new destinations? How about new ways of being and doing in your existing relationships, jobs, self-talk, etc.?

What changes would you like to see in these areas of your life?

Or…

How would you like to feel in each of these areas?  Write your answers down.

  1. physical environment;
  2. fun/recreation;
  3. business / career;
  4. personal/spiritual development;
  5. wellness & health;
  6. Romance/Family;
  7. Finances/life planning
  8. Social Life / Community

As we transition into a new year, ask your heart / intuition what it wants. Brainstorm, daydream, or do one of my favourites exercises- an intuitive vision board.

“Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing. Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a loving Source – a Sower of Dreams – just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams come true.”   ~Sarah Ban Breathnach

Then take the leap – follow through with inspired action. This may be one tiny step at a time or by taking a leap of faith.

The important thing is that you’re moving in the direction of your dreams and desires.

“We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.”
― Henry David Thoreau

It’s a new year. A blank canvas. Are you ready to take the leap?

As a bonus gift, enjoy this 42-minute creative visualization meditation I channeled a couple of years ago. Allow it to raise your vibration and spark your intuition.
